Hidden Secrets Pt. 7
Previously
"Hello!!! GUYS!!!!!!.." Shane’s voice yelled over the intercom…
——–
Then the line went dead……….
"shit" Shane yelled as she threw the phone across the room… causing it to break in two.. "FUCK!!" she spat out her frustration.. all she could make out over the yelling on the phone was that Tina’s water broke… she couldn’t believe it and didn’t want to..
Tina’s delivery date wasn’t supposed to be for another week… so Shane had planned on being in and out of the clinic before the new member of her very assorted family arrived…. and now she was stuck in this place with no way out… her thoughts drifted to her friends.. to the precious gift that appeared to bring Tina and Bette back together… to not being there to see the baby’s first smile… first laugh… not that Shane wasn’t happy about Tina giving birth early… just that she was going to miss it…
Shane was on the verge of breaking down, but as soon as the door to her room flew open and the doctor entered, she immediately threw her walls up at breakneck speed… The attending and Dr. Peterson were in the hallway on their final rounds for the night, when they heard a loud noise and Shane’s yelling….
"Is everything okay in here, Shane" the doctor asked after seeing the broken phone and Shane’s personality change… she looked different to the doctor.. unlike this morning, her eyes were fixed… clouded and unreadable…
"oh ya sorry… could i get a new phone" Shane asked nonchalantly.. as if nothing was wrong… in truth she felt like shit.. not just because she was missing the birth… she was nauseous and freezing… her skin was crawling… but she wasn’t going to show it… she hated when people would see her as being weak.. so she focused her attention on something else.. hoping this feeling would go away..
Dr. Peterson could sense Shane was lying.. after working in the rehabilitation clinic for 3 year she could instantly tell when someone was lying… at first it surprised her, this ability, but now she used it daily.. she sent the orderly to retrieve a new phone before taking a seat next to a very tense Shane… "are you okay" she asked "i need to know what made you throw that phone" her voice no longer one a doctor would use but a friend… calm and trusting…

I like it. Love to see the gang together
Oh, I almost forgot. I loved Carmen’s little flash of jealousy. That was great.
I had posted a comment on the previous chapter, because I thought it was the last one. Then (surprise!!) I see that it’s not. Well, I’m glad, because now it feels like I didn’t have to wait for an update. Anywho, like I mentioned before, I like the way the story is progressing. I can see that Shane will seriously put her strength and resolve to the test before she’s home free, but you know how that old tune goes, “you’ve got to go through hell before you get to heaven.” Keep it up.
