    Great Unexpectations Chapter 8

"Ready as we’ll ever be, I guess", answered Tina apprehensively.

Bette gauged Tina’s expression and determined to fix her mood immediately. "Hold on T", she said. She rooted around the jewelry box a little more until she found what she was looking for. She brought out two Caesar’s Palace ten dollar tokens. "We’re gonna need these", she said, smiling and raising her eyebrows as she handed one to Tina and kept one for herself. Tina’s eyes lit up with recognition as she delighted, "We are going to have fun tonight! Poor Alice", she smiled as Bette giggled.

Angus arrived while Bette and Tina were still putting on their finishing touches. Tina was looking gorgeous in her little black dress and curled hair. Bette was wearing a smart pant suit with a camisole top, her hair down and thick with curls. They emerged from the bedroom hand in hand when they were shocked to see that Angus had let himself in and was sitting on the sofa. He stood when he saw them and blushed as they quickly unclasped their hands. "You two look great!", he exclaimed. "Oh, um, thanks Angus", Bette stuttered. And then trying to explain the hand holding, "That wasn’t what you thought-"

"Bette", Angus interrupted. "I didn’t ask". Bette and Tina looked at him with questioning gazes, to which he responded with only a wink and a smile. They both smiled in return, appreciatively. "Well, we’re gonna go now. Angie’s asleep. We’ll try not to be too late."

"Please. Stay out as late as you want. I’ll just crash on the couch ‘til you get back."

"Thanks so much Angus", said Bette. "We’ll see you later."

When they closed the door behind them Angus smiled to himself. "Have fun."

They arrived at The Planet to find it busier than normal for mid-week.

The jukebox was blaring as Amy Winehouse defiantly refused to go to Rehab. They nervously entered looking for Alice. They soon found her waving them over from a corner table. Alice, Shane, Papi, and Helena were waiting for them. "Here we go", Tina said under her breath, feeling much like a soldier about to charge to the battlefront.

As they approached the table everybody exchanged ‘hi’s and hugs. They took their seats as Shane said, "Ok, Bette. Everybody’s here. Alice said you have news for us?"

    1. What is Faye Buckleydoing at The Planet? How does she even know that place exists? Well, that has so much Drama Queen potential, it’s scary. Not exactly what B&T need at the moment when they’re really trying to make things work. Bette is so adorable asking Shane to keep an eye out for her. Is Tina going to ask Bette to wear her ring again? Maybe she’ll give Bette a new ring as proof of her re-commitment. Award or no award, your story is still captivating. Thanks for posting.

    2. Nothing like an unexpected dose of über bitch to put the kibosh on a good night out. Other than the unwelcome appearance of that cow Buckley, this was a great chapter, red. Loved the group interaction (Dana is still a miss), and it’s a good thing Bette’s let in Shane on the fact that sometimes a swift kick to the fabulous Porter derrière is a necessity. Hard lines on not getting an award, but your writing’s a winner in my book. Thanks for the post, and more soon, please.

    3. Great story and update. But is Faye “effing” Buckely not dead in your story? Oh my gosh, we really don’t need her right about now. Mercy. Get rid of her please before she causes huge problems. I was so happy when somebody shot her last year or was it 2005. Whenever, I thought she was gone for good. Anyway, love the story and the great big plus is that you have “our girls” back together. PPS

    4. “I won’t, Shane. I promise”, Bette paused. Then somberly realizing it sounded very Bette Porter indeed, said, “But if I do, then you’ll know I’m in trouble and that’s when I’ll need you the most. ” Great…Great..>Very wise! And Faye? Fuck! Wow!:)

    5. From the divine Amy Winehouse, to that appalling Bloody Brain drink, to the even more appalling Faye Buckley, this chapter has it all! And it WAS great fun to read, especially the Alice-gets-punked bits. The evil Ms. Buckley is as rare as the dodo bird on this site, so I can’t wait to see what you do with her. Incidentally, for all the good it did her Lindsay Lohan should have said no no no to rehab just like Amy did.

    6. OMFG!! Faye Buckley? What the hell is she doing there? Looking for her next victim to insult and abuse? If I were her, I’d RUN! The only reason Bettte didn’t put the “smack down” on Faye last time, was because they were on TV. But the camera’s not rolling now, BIIATCH!! Let the games BEGIN!!!LOL!

    7. You just threw a major twist into this story with Faye Buckley. What the hell is she doing in the Planet? Bette does not need this, but I will guarantee you that Tina will be standing by Bette’s side.

    8. This is really a wonderful story to read, but what the heck is Faye doing at the Planet, I look forward to the next installment please post again soon, sorry you got no award.

    9. oh no what a way to ruin your night; get the girls to deal to her…great update…commiserations about not winning but hey its the story and reader passion that counts so, so what? right on!!!!
