“How did Alice arrange to have her party thrown here?” Bette asked with confusion once they had opened the doors. The tall ceilings were beautiful, as was the art on the walls. She couldn’t help but smile at the artistic nature of the place. “Jesus, this must have cost an arm and a leg.”
“What has she done this time?” Tina chuckled, shaking her head at the incredible gallery. But then again, she knew how Alice loved to overdo her own birthday. “Oh and here she comes.”
“Teeny. Betsy.” Alice teased, squeezing past a few others to make it to the door. “I’m so glad you guys could dump the little weasel for the night and spend it with me!”
“We are not Teeny and Betsy,” Tina laughed, half-suffocating in Alice’s tight hug. She finally escaped it just as Alice pulled back.
Bette shook her head with confusion. “Yeah, and we didn’t dump the weasel – what are you insane?”
“Well … don’t you have something to say to me?” Alice teased, tapping her ear expectantly.
“Oh god, seriously?” Bette sighed with an instinctive smile. “Good lord …”
“Happy birthday, Alice,” Tina smiled, holding out the gift. “I hope you have the best one yet.”
“Yet is exactly right!” Alice beamed, accepting the gift while leaning in to give Tina another ridiculous hug. “I have something craaa-zayyy planned for next year. And every lesbian for miles is invited – just like this little shindig! Mmm I can’t wait!”
Bette couldn’t help but laugh as she was pulled into another one of Alice’s hugs, caught completely off-guard.
“Come on ladies,” Alice called back, already making her way through the crowd.
“… Should we follow her?” Bette sighed, earning a nudge from Tina’s elbow as she straightened her posture and allowed herself to be led behind the beautiful blond. Wherever she had intended, Bette would follow, and they both knew that.
“These are the drinks,” Alice smiled excitedly, showing off each little drink and tiny umbrella. “This party is gonna blow your socks off! But who am I kidding – when’s the last party you’ve been to? Mine from last year?” Alice laughed aloud, taking a few steps off before turning back to their unimpressed features. “Ahh ha ha ha, I’m just kidding! I love you guys.” She kept laughing as she disappeared into the crowd, and Bette instinctively slipped her arms over Tina’s hips, resting her chin on Tina’s barely clothed shoulder.

Seriously, so good. Bette is caught in limbo between her former life and her current life’s predicaments. It’s funny how she is judging herself (married Bette) about the possibilty of her wandering eye while in a committed relationship with Tina, despite her true past of just leaving Tina w/o explanation. What’s worse? Man, the inner turmoil is palpable. Great story, Bi!!
This story is so much deeper than the movie. I like the way Bette criticizes her married self. Also the fact that she can’t figure out -yet- what is that Tina wants to hear, but hopes that “in time” she will. She already is thinking future with Tina. Has she realized it? This story is the best Xmas highlight so far. (keeping my hopes up though..)
HI biissexi, I am so loving this tale. Bette’s confusion over everyday evnets and conversations is so funny. LOL moment aplenty. It is so sweet to read how close and intimate Bette and Tina are being at the party especially as Bette has been fearful of taking things to far to quickly with Tee. Candace really is the fly in the ointment here so I hope Bette squishes her completely. Alice was fun and typically lound and over the top. Perfect! I do hope she fills Bette in on more of her recent past with Tina and Angelica as Bette was heading to destruction with Candace leading the way. I can’t wait to read more so please post soon. Uh oh indeed! Since Aluce seems to know what’s going why won’t she provide Bette some background on her life , work , etc? Bette’s having a lot of close calls w/ Tina and I’m thinking one of her mishaps will end up with a very mad or confused Tina. Congrats on being done with éxams and thanks for the story update. Happy to see you made it thru exams. Congrats. Now a little R&R before you are thrown once more into the fray. When Bette said she wanted a little fresh air, I thought, OH hell, not now, Candace is watching for her moment. Sure ’nuff there the b***h is. Hope Bette will walk right past her and back inside very quickly before Tina comes and finds them. Maybe she can extricate herself before everything goes awry. Great update. I’m really enjoying this story. It’s a great take on a really good movie. Very inspired idea — gotta love the Bette twist on the Nicolas Cage role.
