    Based loosely on the movie “Family Man” – Bette wakes up to a life she doesn’t recognize.

     

    Just waking from an incredibly deep sleep, Bette stretched her arms out on the bed and was confused. This didn’t feel like the three hundred and eighty thread count sheets she loved. As she peeked opened her eyes, the soft blue color on the walls wasn’t right, and this wasn’t the wall in her incredibly luxurious New York apartment. Opening her eyes wider, she saw that this wasn’t her bed. Wider still, she opened her eyes to a room that wasn’t her own. The shock nearly took her breath away, because she didn’t remember any of it.

    A gentle moan surprised her, and she slowly and cautiously pulled back the comforter to see a spattering of blond hair on the pillow next to her. That was when she was content with herself ‘Porter, you’ve still got it’ she smirked to herself with her usual air of confidence. However, when the woman turned a bit in her sleep, an enormous wave of confusion took her over with the shock of what she was seeing.

    "Tina?"

    The blonde stretched a bit before slowly opening her eyes with fatigue.

    "Tina Kennard?" Bette asked, completely confused to see her college girlfriend in bed with her. Not only had it been thirteen years since they’d been seeing each other, but she hadn’t left their relationship on the best of terms. She had left on a trip, and abandoned their relationship all those years ago. Now, looking at Tina in bed with her, she couldn’t understand why.

    Smiling gently, Tina yawned and shifted. "What is it, hunny?"

    ‘Hunny?!‘ Bette thought in a panic, ‘What the hell am I on?? What happened last night?!‘ She thought quickly, as she had been trained to do over the years as a very successful businesswoman, but still found herself at a loss. "I … uh …" This situation was getting the best of her.

    "You can be so weird when you’re tired," Tina chuckled, turning onto her side and pulling the comforters back under her arm. "Go back to sleep, baby. It’s still early."

    Bette looked around the room, analyzing her surroundings with confusion. Was she at Tina’s place? Had they somehow made up for all those years the other night? If so, Bette was awfully sorry she had missed whatever incredible excuse that was! ‘Damn, I’m good.’

    20. The Family Man has always been one of my favorite films, one of my “go-to” movies to cheer up. I always thought it would make a great adaptation for an LW fic, so I’m glad someone’s taken it up. Good start! :)

    21. Great to have you back Bi. I saw Family Man and it was a strange movie for me. I guess I just didn’t pay attention. I’m sure this story will be better since I know and love the characters. Thanks for taking the time.
