    “Spock” Kirk answered light shining in his eyes.  “You’re back.”  He felt Spock reach for him and to spare him from embarrassment he warned him though their mind link that they were not alone.

     

    Spock’s hands closed on Jim’s shoulders as he became aware of the audience. 

     

    “What happened?”

     

    “It seems you got cold feet when you realized that you were to become my mate and passed out.” Kirk told him.

     

    “Cold feet? My body temperature is 99.2 degrees Vulcan normal.”  Spock removed his hands from Kirk and straightened his shirt.

     

    “Figure of speech Mr. Spock.” 

     

    “The challenge caused me to black out?”  Spock surmised accurately.

     

    “Kirk and I have come to an understanding” Rhaina informed Spock.  “I yield my claim. Our mating bond was broken last night as you are aware.”   A tinge of anger crept into her tone. “I am free now to fully explore my own interests.”  She glanced at Rau and the desire rose unbidden.

     

    “It seems that the issue is resolved except for Christina.” Spock stated flatly.  He did not miss the heated look that passed between Rhaina and Rau though he no longer had a right to comment.

     

    “It is resolved Father.”  Christina replied.  “I find no logical reason to object to what you and mother decide between you.  I do not however understand how the mating bond was broken.  It is my understanding that this bond is for life.”

     

    “Ordinarily it is” Spock answered. “Like you my initial mating bond was broken in an unusual manner by a particular person.  Instead of consummating the bond with the person who broke it I consummated it with another.  The original bond remained though I was satisfied through a surrogate and released from pon’ far.  I suspect my Terran genes prevented the irrevocable bond that pure Vulcans form.”

     

    “Are you telling me that my bond with Elizabeth can also be broken as I am not fully Vulcan?”  Christina’s mind like her sire was a sponge for information and data analysis.

     

    “You and Elizabeth are melded, Christina.  Nothing can break a melded bond, every aspect of your beings are melded together.  I suspect you were impregnated Infiore.”

     

    “Infiore?” Kirk asked.

     

    “In Fire, or with unbridled life fire would be the closest English translation.  It is a state few attain. There is state of connection especially between melded mates where the merging of essences goes deeper and there is no other place to discharge these energies other than to procreate and infuse an embryo with what is between them.  The energy is too great to be absorbed by any other means. This is called Pon’ Infiore.”

     

    “Are you telling me that you can get me pregnant Spock?” Kirk reeled from this disclosure.

     

    “We are not melded Jim, though the possibility exists.” Spock answered deadpan as the color drained from Kirk’s face.  “Are you feeling well? You look a bit pale.”

     

    “I’m fine Spock” Kirk set his jaw.  His pointed ear Vulcan had a lot of explaining to do in private.

     

    Rhaina threw her head back and laughed.  “Are you sure you still want him Kirk?  If your bond with him is like the bond between Christina and Elizabeth you may be a father again very soon.”

     

    “I am certain.”  Kirk said curtly. It was not possible between males he told himself.

    “It is possible in Infiore for you to impregnate me as well, Jim.” Spock continued. 

     

    “Okay” Elizabeth blurted out.  “This is too much information.”

     

    “Agreed.”  Christina concurred. 

     

    “Christina and I have decided that she will accept the Crowns on three conditions.” Elizabeth announced closing the door on the discussion of what was possible between their sires.
