“Girlfriend Kit… Tina is my Girlfriend… as of this morning.”
“That’s my girl!! Workin’ that Porter charm.. I’m happy for you Bette!”
“Thanks Kit.. but I will have to talk to you about it later.. I need to get back out there with Tina.”
“Go… Go take care of your girl. Don’t worry I will be there in 20 minutes.”
“Thanks Kit.. Bye”
“Bye”
Bette was thrilled to hear the nurse call for them as soon as she walked into the waiting room. It didn’t give Tina an opportunity to ask about her conversation with Dana. Bette didn’t like the idea of having to lie to Tina, even if it was for her best interest.
Dana was in the room almost immediately and Bette couldn’t have been happier.
“Hey Tina”
“Hi Dane”
“Hi Dr. Dana” Haily said cheerfully.
“Dr. Dana this is Bette” Skyler being quite the grown up five year old took care of the introductions.
Dana shook her head trying to hold back the laugh trying to escape. “Well thank you Sky, but I already know Bette.”
“You doooo??” Sky asked in amazement.
“I dooooo.. Bette’s little boy Colin is one of my patients to.”
“Hey is?”
“Yep”
“Cool”
Dana turned to Hailey “So let’s get you checked out Miss Hailey”. She started to examine the little girl. Poking, prodding, and looking at every little thing that she could think of. “How have you been feeling Ley Ley?”
“A little better.. I guess”
“Not all better?”
She shook her head no.
Dana turned to Tina. “How has she been eating?”
“Good… just as much as Sky… sometimes more.”
“And have you been pushing the red meat?”
“Yeah 2 servings a day most days, at least one a day though.”
“Good.. that’s good Tina.
“Soooo… is it looking any better?”
“Tina I need to check a thing or two more Ok, but the fact that she is feeling a little better is definitely a step in the right direction. I have one more patient to see real quick. Why don’t you hang out in the waiting room for a few minutes, and I will come get you as soon as I am done so we can go over the test results, and talk about this lovely lady over here” Dana said pointing toward Bette.”

Aw geez. Can you at least have them knock the kid out for the bone marrow test?
This is sad and hope its not leukemia, please let her be ok, glad Bette is there with Tina. Please post more, thanks!

I have a feeling I know where you’re going with Hailey’s condition..and I’m hoping I’m right, because while it does suck at times (I’ve dealt with it since I was a kid too), it’s not strictly speaking life-threatening…anyway, looks like B&T’s paths crossed at the right time, whatever comes their way, they’ll now have an amazing family base :)
WELL, we may have let u off last time BUT I’m not letting u off the hook for making the kid seriously sick so u betta make her well & give Bette time to give the mama lots of loving; do u hear me gyrl???? PPS
well if its leukemia… they are lucky they are twins… good idea for kit to come and get the kids… PPS
I hope that it isn’t Leukemia, I don’t know how the poor Tina will handle such news, it’s good that Bette is with her. Thanks Ti you are great. Post soon.
I just had to catch up from not reading for 5 days. Kids and family..taking up the time. ; ) I sure hope that Hailey is OK and glad Bette will be there for Tina

Aw, man, I hope it turns out to be something different.. They’re just getting started and we want a lot more of this group as a family, especially if Bette turns out to be pregnant.
Oh the possibilities with this saga are endless and even if Hailey has leukemia it need not be life threatening but an adjustment in their lives. Bette will be that pillar of strength that Tina needs and all the love ofrom Bette and the extended family to help them thru. But let’s hope that she really doesn’t have it, maybe just a severe case of anemia which can also make you bone tired and lethargic. Red meat is good for it but a daily dose of iron for the rest of her life is probably what she needs if it is anemia. I know, been there done that. Still take it after more than 40 yrs. Great story. PPS
I really hope that Hailey is ok and that Dana is just being overly cautious. No need for such bad things to happen so early in their relationship. Thanks for posting!
