    Bette hands in her letter of resignation – Franklin reveals his true face. The anniversary is coming up… will Bette make time for Tina?

    Bette had met with her lawyer and explained the situation. Karen had assured her that everything was in order and that Franklin had nothing on her. The worst thing he could do was to spread nasty rumors, trying to ruin Bette’s good name. Peggy Peabody called her to congratulate her on the new job and to let her know that Franklin was trying to mess with the outstanding Porter reputation. Peggy assured Bette that nobody was listening, but that she should nevertheless watch her back. Bette let her lawyer know about Franklin’s strategy. Karen Marsh was already on it. She was going to see if they had enough to sue Franklin Phillips for slander.

    By the weekend Bette was starting to feel really stressed out. She couldn’t sleep, the adrenaline coursing through her veins at all hours of the day. Bette hadn’t seen Tina all week and they’d hardly talked. Even though Bette missed her like crazy, she had a hard time concentrating when talking to Tina on the phone. Her mind was on the show constantly. Thursday night Tina had made a surprise visit to The CAC, bringing over food, just asking for half an hour with Bette. They had been interrupted ten times during dinner. Phones were ringing off the hook, and people constantly knocked on Bette’s door for advice. After twenty-five minutes Tina kissed Bette goodbye, telling her to get back to work. Bette felt guilt-ridden when she watched Tina go. She promised herself this would be the very last time she’d ever choose work over Tina.

    Tina recognized Bette’s behavior all too well. It had been like that with every new show ever since Bette started working at The CAC. She was working herself into an early grave, completely oblivious to what was going on outside the walls of The CAC. Tina was unsure as to how she could best be there for Bette. Whenever Tina called it seemed like she was adding to the stress Bette was experiencing. She tried coming by, but seeing Bette just made Tina miss her more. Being in the same room as her and not being able to connect with her was almost unbearable to Tina. So she decided to give her space, hoping the days would go by quickly. In her more dark moments she wondered if Bette would ever be able to balance work and private life in a sound way, in a way that didn’t exclude Tina on a regular basis.

    3. You have a “comfortable” writing style. Your explanations and dialogue are realistic, interesting an adult. I wish the show would have this pairing again.

    5. on the show some of tibette problems started when bette began working for CAC so i’m glad that part was over…less stress, more love for them

    6. Loved the way you weaved through all the emotions in this post, Anker! Not many people have mentioned the conflicting emotions that Bette must have felt leaving the CAC. Remembering her progress and successes… there had to have been many bittersweet thoughts. Loved that she is taking Robin, I mean James, with her to the University. When B felt a little unsure after Franklin’s threats, how typical that she immediately finds time to call Tina. It was reminiscent of the night she called him out in his driveway. You mentioned somewhere that Bette has learned her lesson…. well, maybe, but how very Bette it was, for her to realize the anniversary at the last minute, and back peddle as quickly as possible to save the day. Best line (IMHO):”I love you…because of all the wonder you bring me…and in spite of all the BS you put me through…” That definitely is love!     11. Hey you…I was beginning to wonder if I was going to have to PM you to get the next chapter. Then, VOILA…part thirty-three appeared on my screen. LOL! It’s must be bittersweet for Bette to turn in her letter of resignation. To take the CAC from nothing and to build it into a thriving business, must make Bette sad to leave her “baby”. CHange can be wonderful and Bette is overdue for a change when it comes to her job. Franklin doesn’t have a classy bone in his miserable body. He should be giving her the accolades she deserves for making the CAC so successful but instead he makes empty threats to intimidate. What an ASS! LOL! The best part of this chapter was when Bette looked at the date on her email and realized it was their anniversary. She was dead tired but went to Tina’s to be with her and to celebrate their love for 9 yrs. That’s what it’s all about Anker…true love. Makes me smile from ear to ear the way you captured the moment. Beautiful. PS.

Sorry about that, I didn’t fell asleep (although I’m really tired today, it’s hard being a year older LOL – it was a great day, thanks) but the phone rang….and BTW; how could I ever fall asleep to your fantastic writing!!! It’s understandable Bette will do her best and shut Franklin up – I just thank god (and I’n not even religious LOL) that this is her last show. By giving in her resignation she has shown that Tina is her top priority… but right now it must be very hard on Tina…..watching history repeat itselt.     18. What’s that about the best laid plans…? Oh yeah, that men screw them up. Good to see that doesn’t apply here… ;) I’m glad Bette is closing the book on her time with the CAC, she’s taken it as far as she needs to, and it kept (it’s still keeping! grrr) her away from Tina. It’s time Bette started a new chapter, this time with a co-author, and hopefully they’ll be having a far better ending. Lovely writing, as always. Thanks, anker.

    23. UMMMMMM, that was ummm some incredible adult alone time. That kind of left me speechless. They are so in sync with each other. Their bodies and souls are like an orchestra with each having a turn as the orchestra leader. They are able to tweak all of the passion out of their own playground which is the other’s body. Now if they can only make it through this final show and leave Franklin behind in his in own demise of stupidity.

    31. anker, that was marvelous. I must have forgotten to check the rating though, because, for some reason, the hot steamy ‘Happy Anniversary’ Bette gave Tina caught me off guard. Yeah… I’m a little spacey. Anyway, great as always. Frankly, I’m just relieved Bette came to long enough to not screw up something really important! PPS, my friend. And I’m actually pretty sure the darn pleasure is mine! ;)
