“This is hard… I know what needs to be done here at work… I know what is expected of me… it’s safe for me, you know…” Bette said.
“I know… but Bette… don’t you know what I expect of you…? What you need to do to make our relationship work?” Tina asked and got up from her position in front of Bette.
“Not always… it’s not as simple as work….”
“No, you’re right. It’s not. But you have such high expectations of yourself at work… I think you’ll find that even if you only give it 90 per cent… everyone will still be impressed. Whereas at home… you don’t expect yourself to succeed, you don’t expect as much from yourself…”
“And my child and his or her mother will expect my all? Is that what you’re saying?” Bette whispered, her eyes glazing over.
“… tell me if that’s too much to expect, Bette… please… cause I need to know…” Tina whispered back, a single tear falling down her cheek.
“I’m scared of what will happen if I fail… look at my parents… I don’t have the best role models, you know…”
“Oh baby… you will make mistakes… you will make the wrong choices at times. And so will I. But we need to make those mistakes together… and if we do, I know we’ll set things right, correct our mistakes together. We can do it. You can do it Bette… I know you can,” Tina pleaded with Bette, trying to make her understand how much she believed in her.
“It’s not too much to expect, Tina… you and any child should expect my all… I’m just… what if I’m not enough?” Bette said, her voice frail.
“If you try you’ll always be enough… that I can promise… cause I know of all the wonder it is to be around you Bette. Don’t you know how lucky I feel to be with you… to be the one you share yourself with? God! Our child will feel the same way… but you have to be there, Bette! You need to choose us…”
Bette grabbed both of Tina’s hands and pulled in to stand between her legs. She looked up at Tina, her eyes begging for Tina to understand.
“I do choose you… I have to be with you… I don’t really want to be stuck here at work at night… I want… I want to be home with you… Sometimes I just can’t find my way. And I’m so sorry for that…”
Tina raised her hand from Bette’s grip. She smoothed the hair from Bette’s face and gazed into the ebony eyes that forever would make her heart skip a beat.
“If you promise me to try a little harder to come home before bedtime… I promise you to come get you, when you can’t find your way…” Tina whispered and brushed away Bette’s tears with her thumb.
“I can make that promise… T, I always choose you… please, you have to know that…” Bette said, pulling Tina close again.
“Then choose to come home with me now… we’ll figure out the rest, baby….” Tina smiled.
“Can I get a kiss before we go?”
“Yes baby, you can get a kiss before we go…” Tina confirmed before she kissed Bette softly on the lips.

Aww. The end made me so happy. I’m glad that Tina confronted Bette about the work issue. They need to be in it together.. not just when they have a child but in creating it..and through the pregnancy. Can’t wait for more. I love this story. Its really a rebuilding of their relationship. Its romantic and sweet..and a good read. PPS.

Tina reclaimed her wife before Bette strayed to far away from her. Their relationship has grown so much from the last time they were separated. Tina recognized the signs that Bette was getting lost in work & Bette accepted her reminder & was able to correct it the situation before their relationship suffered a major setback. This is a much stronger B & T and I hope they were successful in producing a little Kennard – Porter! Ciao.

I guess every couple experiences that time when they see a side of their partner that is a little foreign to them. Accepting and moving forward isn’t always so easy. Good ending showing them more on the same page. I’m not a tremendous lover of the baby so soon storyline, but I know it’s a popular theme. Nice writing! Thanks!
Great update, glad Tina is so wise and won’t let Bette forget that the most important place she needs to be is with her.
May their wait be fruitful. Tina took the stand about Bette’s work and probably saved their life as a couple. The emotions ran free and probably brought a little peace to both of their spirits.
What a lovely chapter, left me warm and fuzzy. I like that they are talking out their feelings, being open about their fears and hopes. Always look forward to your posts.

I am so glad Tina had that talk with Bette. It had to be said. Very touching though, I had tears in my eyes. I always wanted Charlie to be the donor. I hope they get pregnant soon. Love this story! PPS!!

Hello Ank, Good to have you back and posting more of this amazing adventure. I loved the way that Tina called Bette out on her recent behavior. Yes, Bette had started a new job but that shouldn’t allow her to ignore Tina and their plans to get pregnant. After everything that they have been through it was a shame that Bette was once again excaping into her work. Yes, it was completely understandable as that is the one place where Bette feels secure in doing the right thing. TIna was a megastar in pointing out everything. Then to cap it off, you had them snuggled in bed, hopeful that the latest insemination had worked. It was wonderful to picture them in bed with Bette’s cuddling Tina as she slept. There little talk undid all of the previuos hurt adn showed what a powerful couple they have become. Now I just want you to confirm the pregnancy and get on with this joyful journey.
