Collision Course 4.69 – I Dare You To Move
Collision Course 4.69
The lights in the club next to The Planet danced across the dance floor, two stories of club was celebrating the opening of the new club, while some of the people there celebrated the life of Samantha Leigh Vance.
The upper levels had large booths with computers where you could order drinks, or food from The Planet (until midnight at least), were radiating in pale pinks and purples.
The first floor was cast in green, blues, oranges, and red and in the center of it all, stood Shane McCutcheon. Looking up as the music started to play, people milled around her, some dancing, some chatting and pointing at the different aspects of the club. Shane simply smiled. Carmen’s dream was coming true, and so was hers. She was going to have a part of Sam with her for eternity.
Sam had said many times that she had thanked god (or that lesbian god that she kept cursing when things went wrong) every day when Jesse had been alive. That she’d had a small piece of the woman she’d loved so hard and so long. So now, it was Shane’s turn to bring a piece of the woman she loved back into the world.
“Pretty brave,” said Sam in her smokey voice.
Shane smiled more brightly, “No, not really. Completely selfish.”
“A kid will ream that right out of you, selfish, ha,” Sam’s trademark snort came drifting to Shane’s ear, “you can’t be selfish with a kid, they’re a lot of work,” said Sam from behind her.
“That’s ok, I can handle it, I want too handle it, for you, for us, for Brian, for Justin, hell, the world could do with a few more Samantha Leigh Vance’s,” said Shane a tear falling from her eye. It was a tear of joy and of sadness, so evenly mixed, and both as poignant as the other.
“Yeah, they could,” said Carmen from her left and Shane turned, the spectra of Sam was gone from her mind. “Are you ok? To early for morning sickness, right?”
The tears shimmered in Shane’s eyes and Carmen reached over, her chin on Shane’s shoulder and wiped it away, “No crying.”

I love this story because I have to think while reading it. I can’t just read it…I have to pay attention…it is that good. Thanks!! (Glad to hear you are still writing about LA)
Wow. There’s so much going on this chapter …Jo’s illness (what could Bette do to save her that would make Jo resent B so much?), Carm’s gravitating back to Shane (it’s like a hurricane, or tornado or something. The birds have gone quiet and the cattle are hunkering down… yikes!), and Alice’s… utter bitterness (I don’t think she’s ever properly grieved for Dana. None of them have. Maybe they should.). What of Quin and Tina? Why is Helena still alone? I’m really pleased to see a chapter, and I hope the next post is soon, Janet. Merci
hey doll thiz iz the sadest thing ever but have 2 say im luvin it juzt the same! cant wait 4 the next update _ cant wait 2 c where u r gonna go with all thiz!!
So what does Bette do to save Jo. Hope she doesn’t have to marry the devil. And what is fate trying to correct, the fact that Jo should of died as a child. I hope it’s not getting Jo back with Amy and Bette with Tina. I really like Jo with Bette so this is a real bummer to see that it will end. But who knows what’s in that head of yours and how all this will turn out. PPS
Not sure I would call it 18 pages of “fun”, but certainly 18 pages of pure bittersweet pleasure! I’m always left wanting more…can’t wait to see where your twists and turns take us. Just brilliant.
THANK YOU! For finally putting Ro & Alice out of their misery & breaking them up. To have to deal w/ high-tension situations at work then come home to nagging unsupporting bs would make my freakin’ head explode. Shane is awfully June Cleavery at the moment, eh? Just wierd, but its much better than a gloomy Shane. Whatever you have planned for doomed lovebirds Bette & Jo, make fate re-write itself into a happy ending for those two. ;-) Loved it.
I look for updates to this story daily. Thanks for the update. Spencer’s one sharp cookie. So, I’m holding out hope that Jo isn’t gonna die. It’s interesting what Shane is trying to do. Having the guys help her with the kids will probably make a huge difference.
Where have I been? Bodega Bay, Portland, Bend, Eugene and I am going to Vegas on Monday for three days. No not for fun. Silly thoghts after reading – So, there are witness’ to Sam’s death, you had the best fictional pathalogist in the country id her, then creamated her and now she is a ghost. I can’t help think your still bringing her back. Joking! Jo’s not dying? I don’t know where you are going with this and that’s exciting. Last weird thought, after Shane has Justin and Sam’s kids – is she going to have Brian’s next? I see her turning into Angelina and just having as many different kids as possible.
