Chapter XXV – Love Soul Heaven Hell

Spencer’s conversation with somebody he didn’t name had been stilted, with Spencer trying to assure whomever was on the call that he still hadn’t found the person who had what they needed. When asked who he’d met, Spencer slipped Bette’s name in the middle of the three that he’d mentioned. After answering a few other questions, Spencer said he’d call the following night at about the same time, to report on what he’d thought about the last couple of people on their list. But the other party seemed to be insisting that Spencer leave New York the next day to meet up with someone. After a slight argument, Spencer seemed to give in. Then he’d hung up.

Bette thought that from what they’d heard, Spencer seemed to have managed impressing on the person he’d talked to that Bette was not the one they were looking for. But if Spencer was being forced to leave New York the next morning, which was just several hours away, Bette and Brom would have to quickly put together a plan that would allow them to track Spencer, and hopefully get to the real people behind everything.

They had decided to all check into a nearby hotel, where they could talk to him a bit more, and grab some sleep, before making plans.

“I’m going with you,” Jules began to say, intending to follow Bette into the room. But Bette stopped walking and turned around just as Brom opened the door of the camera room, heading in their direction.

“You have to stay here, Jules,” Bette answered, clasping the younger woman’s shoulders firmly with her hands. “No, Tina was insistent that either Diane or I stick with you. Diane has gone to take care of things in the duplex, and I’m going wherever you’re going,” Jules answered firmly.

Bette pursed her lips. Jules was about half an inch taller than she was, and she could see Jules had a determined glint in her eye. It was the same determined look Jules displayed when she’d faced down her mother’s half-brothers in the conference room of the law firm mediating the dispute over Jules’ inheritance.

Bette tried to persuade her by appealing to Jules’ emotional connection to Diane, pointing out, “Diane will need you to be on the outside, while she’ll be inside taking care of Angelica, and seeing to things in the duplex. I don’t know what’s going to happen, Jules. And I need to know you and Diane will be here for Angelica.”

    1. OMG!!!! Bette has got to make all the right decisions here. Is the mystery man the Frenchman that stayed with Bette?. He has always been close to Bette so he knows all everything about her story. He is in her inner circle . Superwoman Porter with her sidekick Jules will succeed. they have, too. What a great turn, Sky. You were worried about making this story real. Well, my friend the answer is YES! You have not disappointed.

    2. It is great that Bette and Tina have such loyal friends. They are the kind of people that instil such loyalty. The tension is gripping. I can’t wait to see Bette outsmarting the bad guy and saving her Tina. You rock!

    3. Wow this is so James Bond-ish. I LOVE it. Please keep Bette & Tina safe. I figured Tina’s stepfather wasn’t coming around to her lifestyle for nothing. He trying to save himself. Can’t wait to read more.

    4. So, Brom’s a Captain America type? I can only hope Jules may be able to help save the day with the same panache as Black Widow.

Bette’s going to need all the help she can get to keep everyone safe.

And Tina’s stepfather… if he’s doing something he shouldn’t, then he should face the consequences.

Thanks for posting, on to the next!
