    She thumbed through her messages and emails to see what had gone out and saw the ones she’d needed to send were in her sent folder.   She resumed walking the remaining 25 feet to get to the foot of the escalator that would take her to the “Clubhouse.”

    As if reading her mind from thousands of miles away, Tina called. “Hey, baby,” she greeted Bette warmly.

    “I was just thinking of calling you, T,” Bette responded, giving her an audible kiss over the phone.

    “So you say,” Tina answered in a teasing voice. “I’d been waiting for a decent time to call you, honey. Then I got a text that your flight got in early, and I figured you’d be getting to the lounge by now.”

    “Yeah, we landed ahead of schedule. I think the jetstream helped push us through. Plus we didn’t have to circle around much, if at all, once we got to the airport’s airspace.”

    “So will you have to wait a couple of hours for the flight to Luxembourg, then?”

    “Three hours. But I’m not sweating it. Gives me a chance to stretch my legs and my back a bit, and maybe sit for a facial.”

    “And grab a drink?” Tina asked with a snicker. “I read about that long bar in the lounge. Looks really cool in the airline’s website, baby.   George says it’s a place to strike up a no-strings attached flirty conversation with somebody you’ll probably never see again.”

    “Tailor-made for you, huh?”

    “T,” Bette admonished her gently, but with a smile, knowing Tina was just getting a friendly dig in. As she got to the top of the escalator, she murmured she was putting Tina on hold briefly because she’d soon be in the front desk of the lounge.

    “Thank you Ms. Porter-Kennard,” one of the hosts said, after Bette presented her boarding pass to him. She filled out a request form to be booked for a facial, and, if there was time, hair treatment, then handed it to him. He nodded as he accepted the form, “I’ll make sure you’ll be booked for these appointments well before your connecting flight, miss. And, in case you’re wondering, today’s code for internet access is that one,” he continued, pointing to a small sign on the far edge of the desk.

    4. I really love this story, even though I rarely write a comment.
      but I don’t understand Bette go to wherever, why a woman need to fly like a bird of prey? Bette is a very beautiful woman, but it’s like the women who encounter with her, there is no self-control.
      I always love Bette and Tina’s deep love for each other in this story. but the trouble was that Bette never drew the line against others.
      and Diane was perhaps a little too protective now, compared to a friend’s role.
      I hope Tina will not be angry if Bette tells her the “meeting”.
      the telephone conversation was sweet between them.
      wondered what Tina had to say to her? :)

    6. Great update! Bette has to be careful right now with an emotionally hormonal Tina. She has to know that she can’t just roam and conquer. I like the sidekick role of Diane. She will kept Bette accountable. Damn that woman has would be lovers everywhere. Keep posting, please.

    7. Thanks for the post. Bette needs a full time body guard just to keep her admirers away! You would think she would have learned to have set boundaries with her admirers since Tina got upset with her “incidents” in the past.

    8. There are things happening in the world that beggar the imagination, I know. But a planeload of people blown out of the sky? Just another level of insanity — all those lives lost. One minute here. The next….

      May not be the right forum, but I just can’t shake the feeling, “there but for the grace of God …” for one who takes to the skies.

      I loved the chapter, especially when I read that Toms sperm was used to fertilize bettes eggs, that is what I was hoping for all along. That is going to be one beautiful baby.
