    (Bette) Can you tell me now? Tina looks over and they hold each other’s gaze for a long moment. Tina then places her cup back on the coffee table and looks ahead for a moment, gathering her thoughts. She turns to Bette. (Tina) Bette, everything that happened between us happened a very long time ago.

    (Bette) Can you tell me now?

    Tina looks over and they hold each other’s gaze for a long moment. Tina then places her cup back on the coffee table and looks ahead for a moment, gathering her thoughts. She turns to Bette.

    (Tina) Bette, everything that happened between us happened a very long time ago. We both did things to hurt each other

    She looks downwards and takes a breath.

    (Tina) I know that you want all the details, that it’s important to you to have all of the information

    Tina sighs and rubs her forehead, and then looks over and meets Bette’s eyes.

    (Tina) But this is the distant past for me. I’ve dealt with it, long ago, and I don’t think it’s helpful to sit here and recount every detail. I think it would be very unhelpful actually, for me

    Bette frowns as she listens.

    (Tina) I think you should speak to one of the others. Shane, or Alice maybe. Whoever you feel comfortable talking to

    Tina shrugs.

    (Tina) There’s nothing they don’t know really. You can get all of the information you want from them. And after you speak to them, if you have any questions for me then we can do that

    They hold each other’s gaze for a moment and Bette then nods.

    (Bette) OK, I understand

    Tina gives her an appreciative smile.

    (Tina) Thank you

    Tina leans forward and picks up her cup from the table and then looks over at Bette, who is looking around uncertainly. Tina examines her and smiles.

    (Tina) You want to go and speak to them right now don’t you?

    Bette looks at her watch.

    (Bette) Well would it be a long conversation? In how long do you think I could be back here?

    Tina smiles and has a sip of her tea.

    (Tina) I think it will be a long conversation

    She reaches over and touches Bette’s forearm.

    (Tina) Arrange to see them, and they can go through it all. And then we’ll talk

    Bette looks at her for a moment and then nods.

    (Bette) OK

    They sit in comfortable silence for a while, both sipping on their teas. Bette turns to her.

    (Bette) How long are you going to be staying?

    1. Hummm…. so the confusion has begun…. Bette has a child whom she does not know, a sister whose relationship has made a 180 degree turn in 15 years and all she can think about is Tina. And she is already scheming to keep Tina around. Let see where this goes….

    5. Hey ! Thanks a lot for sharing this new chapter. I’m really looking forward to next chapter. Well, I still think what Bette is doing here is highly unfair to Tina and her current life and relationship ( I mean, let’s be honest, that looks a lot like a trap she wants her to fall in ), especially since Bette obviously loves her very much, so that still troubles be a little, but I definitely want to see where this is going. Thanks a lot !!
