    The last interlude before “First Contact”

    Chapter 9

     

    At 9:55 am Helena was getting nervous. She fidgeted on her chair at the Planet, eager to finally see Bette.

     

    They had arrived ten minutes before and were greeted by Kit.

     

    "Hey there, girls. You’re early.“ Kit laughed.

     

    “Hi, Kit. How are you ?“ Alice answered.

     

    “I’m fine, but Junior is making my life difficult since this morning.“

     

    Helena smiled at that. “I remember the time Winnie was pregnant, those first few months she had a hard time too. It made me queasy just listening…“

     

    “Angus said the very same thing this morning. But I’ll manage.“ Kit grinned. “Now, girls, what can I get you ?“

     

    “I would love a Mocca and Helena’ll have a coffee with milk.“ Alice piped up.

     

    Helena shot her an outraged look. “Who are you ? My mother, my wife or something ?“

     

    Kit bellowed. “You two are adorable.“

     

    Alice smiled sheepishly. “Sorry, Hel. I’m just a little…“

     

    Helena cast her a warning glance and Alice motioned her mouth shut, but winked back.

     

    Kit sure got that, but choose not to comment. Then she turned and went to get the beverages.

     

    “Al, you promised !“ Helena hissed.

     

    “Yes, but I didn’t say a thing.“ Alice stammered.

     

    “No, but your whole demeanor screams ‘I got a secret to share and I’m nearly dying to get it out‘.“

     

    “I’ll try to relax a little. Maybe when she is back you can ask about that job. So there is no chance…“ Alice conceded.

     

    With that, Kit came back. “Anything else, ladies ?“

     

    “Not at the moment, Kit. Thank you.“ Alice replied.

     

    “Kit, if you have time, I’d like to talk to you about something.“ Helena asked, after taking a sip of her coffee.

     

    “Sure, Helena.“ Kit smiled at her.

     

    She too had changed her oppinion about Helena Peabody quite some time ago.

     

    “May we talk in your office ?“ Helena gave her an open smile.

     

    “Ahem… yes.“ Kit’s interest grew. She looked at Alice, but there just came a shrug.

     

    Helena got up and both left for Kit’s office.

     

    Alice fished for her cell and checked if she had missed anything. Seeing no new messages, she thought a moment and then speed dialled.

    5. To all readers of this story: It was never my intention to “trick” you into reading this story by rating it NC-17. … I just edited them, so no one will fall into that trap again.

Yeah Kijuma even I am here…keeping an eye on you…lol..alot of times we get busy and have to play catchup with the stories so if it looks like not many people are reading when you post just go back about a day or so later and you’ll see the numbers go up. I see that Blue is here to stay so this is me accepting that…sigh. If you are gonna put Bette & Helena together can you at least give Helena a puppy? Are you gonna have Helena move in with Bette so she won’t have to sleep on Alice’s couch? If so she will have plenty of room for a puppy. How can you live at the beach and NOT have a dog? Just not right.
