Breathe– Chapter 9
Bette laughed. “Believe me. That sentence will be forever tattooed on my brain. Unless an untimely bullet finds my frontal lobe, or I live long enough for dementia to addle my brain, I will take those three words to my grave.”
Tina tightened her hold on Bette’s hand “God, Bette don’t say that. I am so sorry. I thought my actions had spoken so loudly you just knew or assumed how attracted I am to you.”
Tina felt herself blush as she realized she was telling this breathtaking woman that she found her attractive. “Bette, yes you are the first woman I have ever kissed. But, I hope you are the last and only,” Tina said deadly serious, wanting there to be no mistake that she meant every word.
Her eyes fixed on Bette, Tina hadn’t noticed the door opening, or the light changing as the blue BMW slid quietly into the garage. Since Tina still had hold of her right hand, Bette reached across with her left and shifted the car into park and turned off the engine.
She kept her eyes on the keys, unable to tell Tina that she might feel differently in the morning when her body was free of the drug she didn’t even known she had taken. An incredible sadness poured over Bette and she felt the tears start to form, but was helpless to stop them.
“Hey, look at me,” Tina said softly. Bette paused, and then raised her eyes to meet Tina’s. “I don’t know what the future holds,” Tina started, her voice now taking on the role of protector and comforter. “But what I was or wasn’t yesterday, has absolutely nothing to do with the here and now.” she said, the determination clear in her voice.
“Bette, when I am near you your touch is all I can think about.” Tina leaned closer, never taking her eyes from Bette’s.
“When I am near you all I can think about is your hand in mine.” She closed the last few inches between her and Bette until their lips were almost touching.
Each could feel the warm breath of the other as it grew more rapid in response to their closeness. “When I am near you, all I can think about is your lips,” Tina didn’t finish her thought as she captured Bette’s lips in a soft, sensual kiss.

Nice – you write a good mystery. I’d read this if it were a book – I am reading it – & will continue!
I am sure you can manage a few more sleepless nights to keep writing. When the creative juice is flowing you have to keep going- you won’t be able to sleep anyway with the story running in your head so you may as well stay up to write! Right?
So when can I have the next chapter???
This story has a huge grip on me, I’m wanting to read it like it is a novel, I just can’t wait for the next chapter.
So are the women in the pic’s look like tina, or does she know them??
Oh please post soon! I can hardly wait in between posts. Your story is suspenseful, breathtaking and heartful all at the same time. Keep up the great work!
