Tina went to get up out of  bed to order the room service and Bette pulled her back down to her and said “No, don’t leave yet”.

Tina said “Bette, breakfast is not going to order itself you know? If I am going to feed my hungry girl then I have to first take a look at the menu and then call it down to the hotel”.

Bette said “Can you just stay with me for a few more minutes? You feel so good next to me. I missed you”.

Tina said “Bette, I was just in the other room”.

Bette said “I just love you so much. I don’t know what I would do without you. Thank you so much for taking such good care of me, but try not to worry. We will have setbacks in this recovery and you can’t stress yourself out each time.”

Tina said “Bette, I know, but that is easier said than done. After almost losing you, I am a little on the jumpy side when it comes to your health”.

Bette pulled Tina in closer and was running her hands through Tina’s hair and rubbing her back. Bette was daydreaming and just enjoying the closeness with Tina and then noticed Tina’s deep breathing and realized that she had fallen asleep. Bette remembered that Tina had a very restless night and she thought she must need to catch up on sleep. Bette held her girlfriend contentedly as Tina shifted into an even deeper sleep.  When Bette was sure that Tina was in a deep and hard sleep, she carefully slid out of bed and decided that this morning she was going to order the breakfast and take care of Tina. It was the least that she could do considering how much Tina had given of herself over the past several weeks to take care of Bette’s every need.

Bette looked down at her sleeping girlfriend and ran her eyes down the length of Tina’s body and then she suddenly frowned when realizing Tina looked really thin.  Bette was upset with herself for not noticing this before. The extreme stress and gypsy living conditions were getting to Tina and she was probably not eating and sleeping properly, because she was too busy taking care of  Bette’s needs.  Bette decided this moment that this was going to change. She got the menu and ordered everything under the sun as a brunch buffet so that when Tina woke up she could eat all she wanted to. Bette was going to baby Tina today.

About thirty minutes later, the hotel door rang and Bette opened the door to find a great spread of food from room service. After she tipped the server and brought the food inside their hotel living room, she walked gently into the bedroom where Tina was still fast asleep. Bette carefully sat in bed next to Tina, who was sleeping on her side. Bette ran her hand up and down Tina’s bare arm  and started to wake Tina gently from her slumber.  

Bette said “Tee? Are you awake babe?”

Tina shot up and said “Bette? I am sorry. I fell asleep. Is everything ok? Do you need pain medication?”

Bette pushed her partner back down on the bed and said “Tee, you need to relax. Seriously, you are going to give yourself a heart attack if you keep up at this pace.  You needed to sleep, so I let you sleep, but I ordered a ton of yummy breakfast type food for us to snack on. Are you hungry?”

Tina said “It smells really good Bette!”

Bette said “why don’t you get up out of bed and you can help me eat it”.

Tina said “OK”

The pair went into the living room, pulled the car over toward the couch and started to dig in.

Tina said “Ummm… Bette this is a lot of food, I hope you are really hungry”.

Bette said “You dig in Tee, I was noticing that you look really thin and I am suspecting that you have not been making sure that you eat and sleep enough and that has to stop”

Tina said “Bette I am not thin and I am the one that is supposed to be taking care of you!”

Bette said “We are taking care of each other Tee.”
