Bette
I enter the house carrying both boys in my arms. I lay them now in the playpen and go over the answering machine as the light is blinking.
“You have three new messages. First message today ten fifteen am:
“Hey Elizabeth it’s me. I wanted to call and let you and Tina know that I was still alive. I decided to extend my stay by another two weeks. I just can’t seem to leave. I hope everyone is doing fine and I will try to call back when someone is actually home. I love you all.”
I smiled at the message that my mother had made. She’d gone to Australia on a short vacation, which had turned, into an even longer vacation. She really did love it there.
“Second message today one thirty seven pm:
“Hello, Bette this is Armand Dex. I know you just left here but I hope everything is okay. You were a little freaked out when you left here. It was a lot to take in. I gave Tatyana your number. I hope that was okay. If you have any other questions, as I’m sure you do, feel free to call. Bye.”
I deleted this message.
“Third message today at two fifteen pm:
“Uh hi Bette this is Tatyana. Armand gave me the number and I really hope that you don’t mind that I called you. It’s just this was the first time I saw you in nearly twenty years and it brought back a lot of memories. Now that I’ve found you again I don’t want to lose you. I was hoping we could be friends. UmI’m staying at the Valero Hotel, room 1955. I can remember that because it’s my age. Call me if you want to meet or something but I understand if you don’t. It was really good seeing you again. Bye.”
“End of new messages.”
My finger hovered over the delete button but I decided to keep it so that Tina could hear. With a sigh I turned away from the machine and scooped up the twins. I took them in their room and laid them down for their long over-due nap.

Brilliant update to this wonderous soap opera.
It is astounding how you interlink the various story lines together. Who’d a thunk that Bette and Tatyana would be link by such vicious crimes.
As for the stalker, great to see that ‘Yoda’ hasn’t lost her touch.
I am looking forward to your next post to see how the party goes.
It will be a blast but what devious twists have you planned for this characters.

What a wonder you are I can’t believe how prolific you have been and it’s all SO good. Thanks the way you have interweaved the plot between Bette and Tatyana is brillant and yet I’m left sad that Bette may feel an attraction to this woman that may leave Tina feeling insecure. Thanks

Thanks for the chapter, Reba. Bette & Shane are soo similar — they are two of a kind. Glad to see that Bette didn’t erase Yana’s message so Tina could hear it. For some reason, I think she (Yana) may be the stalker…just a feeling. Please continue to post.
Another really great chapter, as usual. I love the relationship between Bette and Shane. Are we ever gonna get to who is the stalker?! I am dying here!!!

Very interesting chapter. I amglad that Bette told Tatyana aoutg her love for Tina. I am thinking that Shane and Tatyana will get together. Looking foward to Bette telling Tina about the meeting and B&T together. Hey maybe Ynan was the stalker just trying to get a look at Bette.
TOTALLY AWESOME WAAAAAAAHOOOO. I like the plot completely. This Bette has been a friend to all so I see nothing wrong with her being friends with another T. :)
Great post – like Bette’s developing sense of who she is/was. Not so into the stalker hoping its benign because I think they’ve had enough violence crap to deal with JMO. Otherwise love the story.
