    Bette Forgets 51

I awoke the next morning to find the bed empty and reaching over I felt that it was cold to the touch.  Where was Bette?  Getting up I grab a robe and go in search of my wife, but not before glancing at the clock.  7:00.  I look in the boys room first and find that neither of them is in their room.  Curious.  Eventually I find Bette sitting on the front porch on the swing we had installed.  Bette is holding both of the boy’s in her lap and they are facing outward.  She is gently swinging them.

Lochlain and Gabriel are giggling as Bette swings back and fourth.  Bette smiles when she sees me, and the boys giggle louder.

“What are you doing out here so early babe,” I ask sitting next to her and pulling Gabe into my arms

“We got up to watch the sunrise,” Bette says with a soft smile, “I thought you could use the sleep.  Sorry I didn’t wake you.”

“It’s okay Bette.  You and the boys needed your bonding time.”

She smiles again and turns her eyes to the rising sun.  I turn to face the sun as well and the four of us sit in silence for a few minutes.  I should say Bette and I sat in silence, the twins were constantly making noise.

“I’ve been trying to rack my brain to remember why I never said anything to anyone about Tatyana and the things that she left to me,” Bette comments after a moment

“What have you come up with?”

“I found a copy of her will and a name of what I think is a lawyer, other than that nothing.”

I turn my head to her and see her watching me, “That sounds promising,” I say

Bette smiles, “It certainly is a mystery.”

“We have a lot of that going around.”

    “Better than drama.”

I laugh at this, “It certainly is.”

Bette leans her head against my shoulder, “T?”

    “Yeah babe?”

“You’ll still love me if I never get my memory back right?”

I turn to her as she sits up, “Of course I will.  Where did that question come from?”
