Bette and the Business Woman [Part 14]

    Back in the office

Bette listened the story.  She felt it was the truth.

Bette:  “So that’s why you brought her to the coffee shop.”

Roxanne:  “Yes I was trying to right my wrong.”

Bette:  “Well I’m afraid it didn’t work.”

    Roxanne:  “I’m sorry, I tried.”

Bette:  “Well now you get a chance to actually right your wrong while I attempt to right mine.”

Roxanne:  “Well what do you want me to do?”

Bette:  “I dunno.  You’re her best friend.  You know how pissed she is.  You tell me.”

    They both sat and thought.

    Roxanne:  “Got it!”

Her face lit up and Bette was all ears.

    1:00 p.m. B&B Record pres conference

Harmony and Roxanne were on stage as the A&R rep of the record label announced the new artists that were going to be appearing that year.  The crowd was filled with reporters, new and t.v., and fans.  When the A&R rep was finished he announced Roxanne and Harmony so they could introduce the new general marketing plan for the year.  Roxanne came to the mic first.  After a brief synopsis of their plans she began to take questions.  After a few she decided to hand it over to Harmony.  Harmony did her best to put on a happy face and continue to address the impatient reporters.  After a few questions she took one from a small hand in the back.

Harmony:  “uhh.  Yes. You Ms.  In the back.”

Bette stood up and cleared her throat.

Bette:  “Yes, Hi I’m Bette Porter of the UCLA Press.  My question is do you think that you could love a complete idiot?”

Harmony turned and looked at Roxanne as if she were about to walk away.  Roxanne nudged her in the arm telling her to answer.

Harmony:  “I don’t know Ms. Porter that depends on how big of an idiot the person was.”

Bette:  “Well a medium sized idiot who jumped to conclusions prematurely.”

Harmony:  “UmYes I think that I could work something out with set idiot.”

    Bette began to smile.

Bette:  “Would it make it any easier if that idiot said she loved you very much and would be willing to o whatever it took to no long be that way?”

    Harmony began to smile.

Harmony:  “Yes that would make the situation a lot more bearable.  Do you, Ms. Porter, know of any idiots like that?”

Bette raised her hand.  Harmony began to well up.  People were now starting to look at Bette.  Bette herself was beginning to well up.

Harmony:  “Excuse me idiot.  Would you please get your ass over here?”

Bette fought her way through the crowd that was doing its best to accommodate Bette.  Harmony ran to the edge of the stage.  Bette ran up the stairs and she and Harmony ran into each others arms into and embrace.  They hugged for several seconds.

Harmony:  “B I’m soooo sorry.  I saw what I did and freaked out.  I should have give you a chance to explain.”

Bette:  “No I’m sorry I shouldn’t have jumped to conclusions.”

They stopped and just stared at each other for a second with big dumb grins on their faces.

    Reporter:  “Well kiss her already!”

    The crowed agreed.

Harmony:  “I love you Bette Porter.”

Bette:  “I love you more Harmony Scott-Sunfire.”

They both leaned in shared and deep passionate kiss.

They crowed began to clap and cheer as they did.  Even Roxanne clapped and she fought back tears.

And they lived happily ever after.  Or did they?
