    Bandaged Hands, 2

Tina rapped on the door and waved Alice on when Bette opened it. “Hi, I thought you were going home after your appointment.” Tina shook her head, “Nope, I told Alice to drop me here, if that’s okay.”

“Of course it is, I was just finishing up with a few things. Come in, I’m just back here in my office.” Bette delighted in showing Tina around. “You’ve never seen it when it’s empty.”

“Wow, you have a lot of space. I don’t remember it being this big…”

“Yeah, it looks bigger with the light, it’s a great space; I was lucky to get it.” Bette eyes cascaded down Tina’s body. “Can I get you anything, there’s a kitchen just down here.” Tina shook her head. “Bette…”

“Are you sure, I have water, iced tea…”

“Bette, listen.” Tina leaned against the wall and caught her breathe. “Are you okay, how did your appointment go, what did the doctor say?”

“No, I’m fine, everything is fine—but, that’s not what I wanted to talk about.”

Bette leaned against the opposite wall, just outside of her office. “Oh.”

Tina hesitated, “Look, I thought about what you asked me—about moving in together, and I need you to know that I would love to live with you…”

“But,” Bette said, looking down. “There’s always a “but” with an opening like that.”

“You know I love you,” Tina said, pushing her body from the wall and taking Bette’s hand. “That will never change—it’s just, I want us to enjoy what we’re building, and I don’t want you to resent me…”

“Resent you? I would never, I could never…”

Tina smiled, “You don’t know that for sure, and besides, you’ve seen my apartment, I have a lot of stuff…”

“So, we’ll get a bigger place, one that’s ours, instead of one that’s mine or yours.” Bette put her arms around Tina’s back and pulled her close, “I want to wake up with you and go to bed with you without worrying that I forgot something, or that you didn’t pack your conditioner.”

    1. Whoa…heavy stuff. Bette’s Mom must have told her things when she was dying and now starts the guilt trip. Great chapter Girl, can’t wait for your next update.

    2. WOW, but did bette really know? she might have know about a baby, doesn’t mean she know it was shane…. anyway it’s time for bette to start yapping to tina and stop this hidding crap… :)PPS

    3. I hope this means that Bette will finally open up to Tina and share what is going on with her memories. I wonder if Bette remembered until now what happened with her Mom as she was dying. I look forward to the next chapter.

    4. So in reality Bette knew about Shane but did nothing, But how can a kid do anything about her mother’s condition. Bette was probably in teens or younger when Shane was conceived so there really was not much that Bette could have done.

    5. bette has to know that what happened with shane , as a baby, was not her fault… what was she supposed to do , go out and bring her home… it was all on melvin’s head… he was the one who didn’t want to help with the baby… so i hope tina convinces bette that none of this was her fault… PPS

    6. Boy this is really going to be a very heavy conversation when she talks to Tina and that is something she must do. And is Bette’s mother really deceased or did Melvin hide her in some clinic somewhere? I really need to go back and read again, I don’t remember. PPS
