Chapter 3- Finding Alex

Her eyes closed at the last second, thinking that her life was finally over. No more pain, no more suffering. But the car stopped, just before her. The tires were touching her right side. She let out a half sigh, muffle by the blood coming up her throat. She waited for a person to scream at her to get out of the way. But instead, she heard a door open and close and someone walking her way, screaming.

Person: SHANE? OH MY GOD SHANE!

The person ran towards her a full speed, the cars behind hers honking their horns. She walked over and knelt next to Alex’s head. Alex barely opened her eyes to see a beautiful blonde woman, looking her over.

Woman: Shane, we gotta get you to a hospital, Carmen’ll be worried sick.

She knew her mother? And her Madre? Who was this?

Alex: H-o—o-me

Woman: Shane?

Alex took all her strength and shook her head “no”. Tina nodded and took the girl behind the back, and under her knees and picked her up. It was an easy task as the blood-covered woman was so thin, she couldn’t weigh more than 100 LBS. A man from a couple cars behind had hoped out of his car and opened the door so the woman could put Alex in the backseat of her car. She did and Alex laid there, unable to move. Tina managed to get two of the seatbelts around Alex so she was secured in. She thanked the man and started to drive.

She looked back on her friend as a memory flashed by.

She was sitting in the backseat, the same woman’s head in her lap. She held her hadn as she looked up to her wife, who was driving. She looked over the skinny, beaten up beauty who lay in their backseat.

She couldn’t believe that Shane would let the same thing happen again. She thought she had gotten on track. Her and Carmen seemed to be doing fine. She pulled up into the driveway of the house, parked the car and ran over to get the woman out. After hoisting her into the air, she walked up to the door and kicked it, her hands being too full to open it. No one answered, she kicked it again.
