All or Nothing — Part 4 — My Noon My Midnight

Bette couldn’t function without her. Life seemed such a mystery, how could she cope without Tina’s unconditional support, her unwavering loyalty. Her beautiful, soft eyes, and gentle blonde curls. Bette loved everything about her, and she couldnt stand the pain of loosing her.

And it hurts to want everything and nothing at the same time
    I want what’s yours and I want what’s mine
    I want you
But I’m not giving in this time

Bette turned to her sister, who was trying to stay strong, but their little group had been torn apart by Tina’s death. All of them could feel the loss, as fresh as it had been when they first were told the news. But nothing like Bette, every day she’d been a mess. She couldnt sleep, wouldnt eat, she was just an emotional mess. Kit had stayed with her, trying to get her to eat, but nothing would sway her stubborn sister. Bette kept repeating, in a deaden voice, that she wanted to be with Tina, and she didn’t care how it happened.
Bette looked into Kits eyes, trying to drown herself in them.
“I can’t do it, I don’t want to bury my wife”

    And when the stars fall
    I will lie awake
    You’re my shooting star

As she sat in the church, her head lowered, tears flooding insanely down her face, Kit’s arm around her shoulder, Bette felt like her life had ended. She couldn’t go on, not without her, not without Tina.

    Goodbye to you
Goodbye to everything that I knew
You were the one I loved

As they lowered the casket into the gravesite, Bette could only just stay on her feet, her whole body shaking with the supressed emotion, every muscle was trembling as she sobbed uncontrollably into Kits shoulder. She began to hear a moaning, which peaked into a scream.

Closing my eyes and you chase my thoughts away
To a place where I am blinded by the light
    But it’s not right

What the ***** was going on?! Bette wondered, as Kits strong arms pulled her away from the gravsite, as they covered over the coffin, the scream, which seemed to have come from a tortured soul, rung continuously in her ears. Blackness filled her vision, and she fell backwards, screaming herself, screaming for Tina.

I still get lost in your eyes
And it seems that I can’t live a day without you
    Goodbye to you
Goodbye to everything that I knew
You were the one I loved
The one thing that I tried to hold on to

Bette woke with a start, her heart pounding and she could feel the tears caking dry on her face. It was so vivid, so real, but everything was ok, Tina was alive. Bette told herself forcefully. She hated these moments of weakness.
She reached out and felt Tina’s warm hand by her own, squeezing it.
Then she felt a tiny ammount of pressure from Tina.
“T…?” She asked, a smile pushing through the stunned features on her face, as Tina squeezed her hand harder.
    Tina was waking up.
