All or Nothing — Part 4 — My Noon My Midnight
What was going on? Through her haze of emotional pain, Bette could hear a long continuous beep.
The heart machine
Tina’s heart machine.
Bette grabbed the buzzer, screaming at the same time. Tears were flooding down her face, this couldnt be happening, not to her, not to Tina.
Tears form behind my eyes
But I do not cry
As doctors and nurses came in, bringing with them a crash cart, Bette was pushed into the background, hysterical tears flooding down her silent face. She could only stand and watch as they tried again and again to artificially recussitate Tina. She could only stand and watch as the doctor announced “Time of death, 14:57 hours”
She couldn’t take it in.
Tina had died.
And I said, Goodbye to you
Goodbye to everything that I knew
You were the one I loved
The one thing that I tried to hold on to
“TINA!!!! TINA!!!!” Bette realised she was screaming, Kit had hold of her shoulders as Bette sobbed. Bette turned to her, her face full of pain and anguish.
“They’re lying! THEY’RE LYING!!! THEY’RE ***** LYING!!!!” Bette screamed, falling to the floor beside Tina’s bed, sobbing into her knees. Kit knelt beside her, tears cascading down both their faces, mingling when their cheeks touched.
I still get lost in your eyes
And it seems that I can’t live a day without you
“Shes not dead, shes not dead!” Bette whimpered, holding onto Kit with a vicelike grip, unable to believe the doctors, and nurses, who went about their duties, clearing away the crash cart, and assorted machines. It was only when Bette had stood up, and sat beside Tina again, taking her hand, and talking to her, that she realised a nurse was taking Tina’s ventilator away.
“LEAVE IT ALONE!, she needs it!” Bette yelled, looking pretty wild, her eyes were bloodshot and her normally well groomed hair was all over the place.
“Miss Porter…” She replied, as Kit laid a hand on Bettes shoulder, guiding her back into the chair.
Closing my eyes and you chase my thoughts away
To a place where I am blinded by the light
But it’s not right
Bette looked over her black dress once more. The time had come, for her to bury the one person she’d only truly loved. Something was missing, from her life.

Alright, I’ll confess, you got me towards the end. At first I kept thinking, “This is going to turn out OK,” but then, when she was in the coffin and all I couldn’t believe it–“Maybe she really is going to do this and end the story!” Good gosh girl! I was about to reach for the box of kleenex when….You’re so wretched!!!! I guess I’ll take my place in line as well. I hope you post soon you little scallywag! Thanks
