A Secret Love Found Out
“I don’t know what you think you saw, there is no reason to,” I started to say when she cut me off.
“I saw you, in a passionate embrace with Tina, Eric’s wife. I mean who the hell do you think you are? You haven’t been here a year and you’re ready to cause trouble.”
“What do you want?”
“It’s not about what I want.”
“Of course it is. Or else you wouldn’t have said anything to me. You would have gone straight to Eric or Tina. I ask again, what do you want?”
“Hmm,” she said and sat back, a self-satisfied smile on her face, “I want Eric.”
“What?”
“I want Eric. I have been pinning over him since he started working here. You’re the perfect excuse for him to come running to my arms.”
“You want Eric?”
“Yeah, it’s a fair exchange. I want Eric and you want Tina; you can also take that snot nosed brat if you want.”
“Let me get this straight, you want me to break up a marriage so I can have Tina and you can have Eric.”
“Yes.”
“I can’t deliberately break them up.”
“You know what Bette from where I sit, you have no choice. You’ve already started, why not finish the deed.”
“You’re incredible you know that.”
“Look Bette either Tina can be gentle about telling him or I will just hit him with the truth. It’s your choice.”
“You’re a monster,” I said and she shrugged, “she was gonna tell him anyway. Don’t do anything drastic. Let Tina handle this.”
With that she left the room, an arrogant look on her face. Tina and I really don’t have a choice in the matter. Either Tina can tell him or Aimee will tell him and it won’t be pretty. At dinner that night I let Tina know what had happened.
“I guess I’m going to have to leave him sooner rather than later.”
“Just wait for the right moment, don’t rush it.”
Even though our dinner was filled with a little anxiety, it turned into a pretty good night. I really loved the time spent with her and was looking forward to more in the future. We spent the rest of the evening just talking about work and our future goals. We parted promising to make tomorrow a better day.
