Dr. Mitchell walks out to the waiting area to see if Bette is there. He enters and he sees her right away. She jumps up and rushes towards him.
“How did it go?” She asks. He smiles.
“I think we got it all.” He replies.
“You did?” Bette asks as tears of joy falls down.
“We are not 100% sure, so we have to put her on chemo.” Dr. Mitchell says.
“Did you take the ovaries?” Bette asks and holds her breath.
“No, we didn’t. We managed to remove the tumour without damaging the ovary.” Dr. Mitchell says.
“That’s great. For how long will she be on chemo?” Bette asks.
“About 5-7 weeks.” He replies.
“Okay, but you got it all.” Bette asks again, just to make sure.
“I believe we did. But I have to be honest with you, there’s no guarantee that it won’t come back later in life. She will have to come to regular check-ups every six months the first two year and then once a year after that.” He replies.
“Oh she will. Thank you so much doctor.” Bette says and gives him a hug. “When can I see her?” Bette asks.
“She’s in recovery now, but they will bring her down to a room in about 40 minutes.” Dr. Mitchell says.
“Have you told her yet, or is she asleep?” Bette asks.
“She’s asleep, we haven’t told her.” Dr. Mitchell says.
“Can I be the one to tell her?” Bette asks with pleading eyes.
“Sure. I’ll come in later and answer any questions she might have.” Dr. Mitchell.
“Thank you.” Bette says.
“You’re welcome.” He says and smiles. “I better go back and check on her.” He says and walks back in through the doors.
Bette stands there for a few moments and smiles. She then walks out to the pay phones, she dials Chris and Lauren’s number in
“Hello?” Lauren says.
“Hi, Lauren, it’s Bette.” Bette replies.
“Oh, Bette, hi.” Lauren says and smiles. “How’s Tina?” She asks.
“That’s why I’m calling. She had surgery today. They found something after all, it had started to spread, so they decided to operate.” Bette says.
“Oh, my.” Lauren says.
“Lauren, they got it all.” Bette says and can’t help but letting out a small laugh.
