You Don't Know Me – (Chapter: Don't Hide From Me)

When I get up in the morning the first thing I do is check my phone. I have no missed calls. I call her and it goes to the answer machine. I leave another message saying I’m worried and for her to call me.

“Where the hell have you been.” I say answering my phone going into the nearest girl restroom for privacy. I’m at the mall with Michelle and some other friends.

“Sorry…I had some family stuff to take care of.” Ashley says quietly.

“Are you okay?” I ask after taking sometime to calm down.

“Yeah… I just had to handle some shit with my sister.”

“Why didn’t you call me?” I whisper into the phone.

    “I don’t know… I just didn’t.” She sighs out.

“Wow.” I say leaning against the counter in the restroom. “I feel so important and loved right now.”

    “I’m sorry.”

“No you’re not.” I say and hang up the phone. I know I just set myself for an argument but I had to get off the phone with her. Just like I know it would my phone start ringing again.

“Why the hell did you hang up on me?” That’s the first thing that comes out of her mouth.

“Sorry… I just didn’t want to say anything I would regret.”

“Like what?” She asks sounding a little pissed.

“Nothing.” I say trying not to argue with her. “Are you still going with me to Aaron’s party tonight?” I say trying to change the subject.

“No.” Is all she says not caring to explain herself.

    “Why not?” I want answers.

“I have something to do.” She says calmly into the phone.

“Are you going to tell me what it is that you have to do?”

“I wasn’t planning to.” I hang up the phone again because and all honesty she’s pissing me off. “What!” I yell into the phone.

“Don’t hang the fucking phone up on me again!” She yells. I think about hanging up but go against it.

“What do you want Ashley?” I sigh into the phone.

“I’m sorry, okay. I’m just really tired and I don’t feel like arguing with you.”

“We wouldn’t have to argue if you would just stop ignoring me and answer my questions.” I say calmly.
