What Nourishes Your Soul? – (Chapter: Chapter Two)

Good God small talk with this woman is unbearable, Ashley thought to herself as she sipped on her third glass of wine. She was hoping the effects of the alcohol would make the blonde more interesting but, nope wrong, it didn’t help. I mean this girl was a ditz, talked about pop-y bullshit album after another. Of course Roland was acting as if her every word was air to him, like he always did with our clients. Truth be told I hated the fact that I had to sign wannabe musicians like her, they are made to look and sound by the studio no real talent needed. But, that was what was popular right now and she had the look. I know I’m going on and on with my little internal rant but, I can’t help it. That sort of music never appealed to me, I know crazy right? It’s irony isn’t lost on me that’s for sure. I am a Rock girl through and through, my father influence I guess. Ashley’s eyes looked up from her glass to she their waiter approaching with their food. Thank God maybe now she will shut up. This guy is awesome, fantastic timing. He will be getting a big tip tonight.

“The Chicken curry with no sauce…the pasta special no butter, no cream…”, the waiter said while putting their plates in front of them. “Okay and for you the chef prepared grilled medallions of beef marinated in red wine with a rosemary-balsamic demi-glaze along side roasted broccoli and tuscan roasted potatoes.”, he said smiling as he put the plate in front of Ashley. He asked if there was anything else they needed, they said no and with that he left the table. Ashley was silently looking down at her plate, it was beautiful. It seemed crazy to say that about food but, it was true. The colors were rich and luscious, the carefully placed food lay on the square white dinner plate. She picked up her fork, almost too afraid to touch it for fear and destroying it’s beauty. Oh but, was she glad she did as she took her first bite. My God it was incredible, she had never tasted anything like that in her entire life. Her eyes sort of rolled in the back of her head and then closed for a moment as she chewed. The meat was tender, almost melting in her mouth and the rosemary was subtle and not too over-powering, in one word it was perfect. “Is your food any good, Ashley?”, Veronica asked bringing her out of her food- ecstasy induced daze. Ashley quickly adjusted herself in her chair, not noticed she had slumped down in it. She was somewhat embarrassed, I mean come on this was just food. Wait no it wasn’t, not this, it was fucking mind-blowing! “Yes, it is very good.”, Ashley said after clearing her throat a little. Veronica simply smiled and continued eating, having no idea the effects the food was having on the brunette beside her. The feelings that traveled down their body across their chest, over their stomach south to your… Wait, what? Ashley shook her head a little, it was suddenly every hot in here. Ashley self-consciously adjusted herself in the chair, until she was sitting up completely straight, which was not an easy task because her lower half had become a bit weak.  Damn it, she thought get a hold of yourself and that’s what she did, it took all the strength she had in her not to let a moan escape from her lips as she continued eating. Trying to keep her mind off of it she in vain started a conversion with Veronica about shoes. Bad idea because now she was going on and on about some over-priced pumps she brought the other day. However, it was doing its job because now she looked down to see her plate was empty. Man, did she eat that all, normally even though she could eat most people under the table and with her high metabolism it made it possible for her to do so Ashley never did this at dinner meetings. Normally she was too engrossed with closing the deal to even notice the food she ordered. But, there was no doing this to this food, it screamed for attention. Apparatently, the same went for her boss, she noticed that he almost didn’t come up for air once and now had an empty plate and a huge grin on his face. Ashley could definitely see why this restaurant was getting all this attention, with the laid-back artsy feel, and oh my the food. Oh no, let’s not get started on that again, quick think of something, anything.
