Things Meant To Be – (Chapter: 4)
“I’m going to Pure.”
“You better make sure you don’t come home knocked up like that no good cousin or yours!” He yelled and Madison sighed. Setting her jaw, reaching into her back pocket, feeling for the money that she’d lifted from her father’s wallet when he’d been in the shower.
“Ok Papi.” She yelled, getting out the door before he saw what she was wearing.

Spencer woke up slowly. She could tell it was late because of the sunlight in the room. Pass noon, it had to be. She was on her stomach, arms over her head under her pillow. A smiled emerged on her lips. She reached over to the nightstand, finding her cell phone. She didn’t dial it yet.
Rolling over onto her back, staring up at the ceiling, thinking about the insanity of the night before and Spencer sighed. Glenn hurt, Clay missing, her mother having a boyfriend and then there was the sudden surge of bravado from her self.
Where had she gotten the nerve to just tell them like that? Was she really this strong? Could she really stand up to the world like that? People were going to look at her differently now. Then again, she’d never felt right in her own skin, until now. Right now, she felt like she finally belonged.
Her fingers flipped the phone open, dialing Ashley’s number and on the fifth ring, Ashley picked up, “Huh?” Was all that Ashley said, Spencer giggled.
“G’morning.”
“Afternoon is more like it.”
“Hmmm… this isn’t where I was planning on waking up you know?” Spencer told her, voice full of flirtatious promise.
“Oh really?” Ashley laughed. The old, wise, and jaded Ashley seemed to be on vacation and in her place was a joyous teenager in the raptures of love.
“Uh huh.”
“How are your parents dealing?”
“Their not. At least not yet. My dad wants us to sit down and talk.” Spencer said with sarcasm.
“You should.”
“What?” Spencer asked, sitting up straight in bed, wondering what was going on now.
“Spence you have the best family on earth, don’t go messing it up. Let them say their peace…”
“Are you backing out on me again?” Spencer asked heatedly.
“No.” A thoughtful pause. “I’m just saying. I wish I had parents who cared about you like your parents do.” Spencer didn’t say anything, understanding completely because she had met Ashley’s mother recently.
“Can I see you tonight?” Spencer asked shyly.
“Well most certainly.” Ashley laughed. “We have to introduce you to the world of gay and lesbian culture… Starting with movies… and lots of popcorn”
“Don’t forget the cuddling while watching this movie fest of yours.” Spencer said.
“Most definitely not forgetting that.”
Both girls began to giggle and the day stated anew.
