South Of Nowhere – 2.27 – Things Meant To Be

Drew threw the SUV into drive, shaking her head at the thought of all the gas that she was using. She’d never have thought she’d be using her credit card to buy guess. Effortlessly merging into traffic, she was stunned at how easily she was shifting back into ‘modern’ life. Her pocket buzzed, and Drew looked down oddly. It had been years that she’d had a cell phone. Groaning, juggling the phone out of her pocket and flipped it open.
“ ‘ello,” said Drew into the phone. A voice that she hadn’t heard in ages ran in her ears.
“DREW STONE! Is it true? Really true? That you are back in town…,” began Harvey Martel, her former agent.
“Harvey, I was just heading your way. Are you in the house? Or at the agency?” questioned Drew. She slid a pair of blue tinted sunglasses and looked around, trying to remember what exit she needed to get off on. Cursing herself internally for not asking Ashley how to use the GPS system.
“At the agency, listen I was thinking,” said Harvey.
“I’ll be there in a few minutes,” stated Drew, snapping the phone closed.

“I missed you, where have you been?” Ben asked. Sliding his hands around Paula’s waist, his lips finding her exposed neck.
“I’ve been home,” said Paula.
“Home? With Arthur?” the hurt in his voice stung at Paula. She’d been waffling back and forth about how to break it to Ben that she was trying to give her marriage, her family, a second chance.
“With my family,” whispered Paula, turning around and pushing Ben away gently, “but I think things are looking up.”
“Family? That’s why you haven’t been at your apartment?” asked Ben, his voice sounding more hurt by the moment.
“There are a lot of things going on,” stated Paula. She put the chart away, looking at her watch, thinking she was running ahead for once. The constant thought of wanting to put a wedge between Spencer and Ashley etched in her mind.
