" Her heart wasn’t mine to begin with." She snapped back.

"What?" I say stunned.

"I loved Spencer. More than anything." She took another sip of her beer, steadying her tone before continuing. " But I couldn’t compete."

" What are you talking about, Katie? Spencer, loved you. She cried for weeks!!! It killed me everyday to see her in such pain. How dare you —-"

"SHE LOVED YOU!!!" She screamed interrupting me. She ran her fingers through her long blonde hair. Trying to fight the emotion, building up inside of her.

" I couldn’t compete with you Ashley." She said softly. " You were always there in her mind. The perfect creature she loved for all those years……..I thought eventually, we’d get past it, and she’d look at me the way she’d look when she was talking about you….But in the end….it was always you."

I was stunned by the girls confession, and as I looked at her, all the anger I had melted away. Because sitting there with her, watching the emotion in her eyes, we both know what she said was true.

"Do you love her?" She asked, a lone tear escaping her eyes.

I can feel a lump rising in my throat. I’ve spent all these years trying to analyze my feelings for Spencer Carlin. Trying to rationalize, all the emotions that stirred up in my body everytime she was around. I’ve spent a lifetime in denial, burying the emotions so deep within me, that lying about them became second nature. And here I am, with a girl I barely know, about to admit what i’ve been running from for so long.

"Yes.." I whisper, my tears threatening to fall. " She’s my…my everything" I let out a long exhale, closing my eyes, letting the emotion wash over me. When, I finally open, Katie is staring at me smiling, and I can’t help but laugh a little.

" Wasn’t that hard was it?" She asked jokingly.

" You have no idea!"

"Well, if you hurt her Ashley, I’ll have to kill you." She got up and walked towards the dance floor, leaving me thinking about the events that had just transpired, and what they mean.

I’m gonna kill her. I whisper to myself searching the club for Ashley. Where the hell did she go??? I finaly spot her at a table. Her eyes are red as she stares off in the distance. I slowly walk towards her and take a seat.
