Spencer drained her beer. Why did this girl make her drink so much?

 Ashley smiled and Spencer got up to get another beer, how did she get into this mess.

Sky went to take make sure dinner was perfect and Spencer leaned on the side of the patio.

“Enjoying yourself”

“Immensley”spencer said dryly

“Yes it is a special evening” she grinned

Spencer ignored it

“I’m sorry if I spoiled your night” Ashley said softly

Spencer looked at her, surprised by her sincerity

“I shouldn’t tease you this much”

“No you shouldn’t” Spencer replied

Ashley leaned forward and met Spencer’s eyes

“Do you think about that night?” Ashley demanded

Spencer drew a sharp breath but didn’t break the eye contact. She slowly shook her head side to side.

“Why are you lying?”

“If I think about that night, its not in a pleasurable way”

“No? It was very pleasurable, the way I remember it” Ashley said softly

“I can still taste your lips, your skin, I can still remember what you felt like when I…”

“Stop, please” Spencer begged

Spencer clenched her jaw and forced to look away from those deep, dark eyes. Sky’s return saved her. Ashley sat back in her chair, her eyes still resting on Spencer.

It was finally time to leave and they walked out together, saying goodbye to sky inside. Spencer walked to her car immediately but Ashley followed.

“How long are we gonna keep this up” Ashley demanded

“I don’t know what you mean” Spencer said as she unlocked her car

Spencer turned on her heels “I don know what you want me to do?” “I try to put it out of my mind, but you always show up, throwing it in my face daily. I want to forget it, don’t you see?”

“Well I can’t forget it” Ashley stated “I don’t want to forget it” Ashley stepped closer and Spencer stepped back

“That night proved one thing, that I was temporally insane”

“Why do say that?”

“Because that wasn’t me,” Spencer said “I just don’t do that. Not with someone like YOU” she wanted to take the words back immediately.

She saw the pain flash cross Ashley’s face, “Some one like me?… Am I that bad?”

“Well, I’ve been told that you see a lot of women at the same time” Spencer got angry “and I hate the fact that I was just another to add to your hundreds”

“Hundreds? Is that what you think?”

Spencer didn’t answer

“Well no wonder you don’t want to have anything to do with me. I’m a bum, with one HELL of a reputation”

Spencer was sorry she had even brought up this “I didn’t mean…”

“Yes you did… I’m sorry Spencer” Ashley walked away “I’ll leave you alone, let you forget all about it. Let you plead temporary insanity”

 She got in her convertible and drove off, and Spencer just sat here in her car for a very long time before leaving. She had hurt Ashley. All this time she had pretended that Ashley didn’t have feelings but she did, just as she did.
