The One Who Changed My World – (Chapter: 9)

“The chivalrous men, for one,” I say sarcastically.

“Oh you know what I mean, Ash,” she corrects herself. “People had manners back then and asked girls to dance. Now they like your ass, so they start to grind with you until you get one of your girlfriends to rescue you.” I laugh with her because it’s very true. “And so-called ‘dancing’ is really just dry sex on a dance floor.”

“You didn’t seem to mind last night,” I reminded her as blush returns to her face.

“I know, but I really do like ‘50’s dancing and stuff,” she replies. “Okay but you changed the subject again! I’m supposed to be learning about you and yet again we’re talking about boring old Spencer!”

“I assure you,” I reply. “There is nothing boring about the Spencer I know. But, what exactly is it that you want to know, love?”

“I mean, I know who you are now. But what got you here? Who were you? I feel like you know all about my boring, Christian girl past, but I know nothing about yours.”

“It’s about as boring as yours,” I reply sincerely. “Maybe more.”

“I doubt it,” she says chuckling. “Do we need to go over the reputation thing again?”

I laugh at her, but she really has no idea. “That was freshman year, Spence. I wasn’t always like that.”

                “Really?” she asks doubtfully.

“Yes, really. I was quite the opposite.”

“You mean to tell me,” she starts accusingly. “That Ashley Davies was not a party girl in high school? I don’t believe it for a second. I’m not that gullible, Ash.”

“Okay,” I roll my eyes at her and roll off of my bed to get up. “You asked for it. But don’t say I didn’t warn you.” I walk over to my desk and open the bottom drawer to pull out a thick, blue book. I walk over and sit back down on the bed, placing it in Spencer’s lap who is now sitting up, very confused.

“Springfield Tigers?” she asks. “You’re showing me your yearbook?” I nod my head. “Why? What does this prove?”

“More than you’ll believe,” I say honestly.
