The One Who Changed My World – (Chapter: 10)

At the restaurant, Spencer and I both enjoy delicious meals that might have cost more than my tuition. As the waiter brings out dessert, I can’t wait to give Spencer my gift, so I crack and decide it’s time.

“I have something for you babe,” I say to her.

“You had better not!” she says seriously. “You have spent way too much on me already and I refuse your gift.” I ignore her and slide a black, velvet necklace jewelry box to her across the table. “Ash,” she breathes out.

“I thought you needed something to go with your dress,” I reply smoothly. She opens the case and I hear her gasp as her eyes land on a white gold, open heart pendant.

“Ashley this is so beautiful,” she says softly, so shocked my its beauty.

“Turn it over.” She looks confused but does as I say to see the engraving I had etched into the pendant.

She read it out loud as she takes in the meaning of the two simple words. “Forever yours.” A tear rolls down her cheek and I know she knows I mean it.

“I’ve already given you my heart Spencer, this is just a reminder for whenever I’m not there,” I try to stop her crying but it only picks up. I walk over to her side of the table and take the necklace from her hands. “Let me,” I whisper as I bring it around her neck and clasp it in the back. After I clasp it, I bring my lips down to her neck and kiss her gently, whispering “I love you,” in her ear. She turns to me and doesn’t say a word, but just simply places a soft kiss on my lips, showing me exactly how she feels.

And yet again, our sappy moment is interrupted by the wait staff this time as they start singing “Happy Birthday,” so Spencer, even after I asked them not to because that’s is so incredibly tacky. But not the moment is ruined so Spencer and I finish our desserts and head to my car.

“Well, what are we going to do now?” she asks.

“I told you Spencer; we’re meeting everyone at Trinity.”
“It’s too early, we’ll be the only ones there,” she states, started to sound annoyed by what she thinks is a bad ending to a great day.

“Well we have a small pit stop to make on the way. And no Spencer,” I continue before she can interject, “It’s not sex in my car. Our dresses are far too class for those shenanigans tonight.” I smile as she lets out a disappointed moan and we get in my car and head off to our little put stop that will put Spencer in a much better birthday mood. She should know better than to think that I would take her to Trinity on her birthday. Although, technically we are going to Trinity; just not how she remembers it.
