“Only that woman could bring me down from that high!” she yells.

            “What’s the matter baby,” I ask concerned as I twirl her hair.

            “Nothing, she’s just mad I’m not coming home for my birthday and that I don’t have a boyfriend,” she states.

            “Then tell her you have a very hot girlfriend!” I say sarcastically but the death glare she sends my way tells me it was not a funny joke. “Or not,” I mumble. “What did you say about next weekend?”

            “Oh it’s this stupid family party I don’t even want to do to, but I told her I would,” she replies somberly, but then her face lights up. “Ash you should come with me and meet my family!”

            “Are you sure that’s a good idea Spence?”

            “Well I wouldn’t introduce you as my girlfriend, if that’s okay,” she states, wondering if she had offended me. “But I want you to meet them. It’s almost summer and we’re going to need to have many sleepovers so they have to meet you some time!”

            “If you want me to be there, then of course I will,” I answer honestly. She gets giddy again and I’m glad her mother’s phone call didn’t spoil her birthday.

            “So,” Spencer starts to change the subject. “What the agenda for the day?”

            “Well birthday girl, we’re going to go shopping so I can buy you the perfect sexy dress for the evening,” I start to tell her the plan while she nods excitedly. “And then the two of us will have a romantic, candle-lit dinner at the fanciest restaurant, with only the most expensive wine for my newly turned 21-year old girlfriend. Then after dinner, we’ll meet Aiden, Angela and a few other people at Trinity.” Her face was plastered with excitement until the very last part.

            “Trinity?” she asks surprised.

            “Yeah, is something wrong with that?”

            “No, I guess not,” she replies unconvincingly. “We just go there a lot, and it’s that jumpy dance music stuff. It’s fine though, I’m happy I won’t have to use a fake ID.”

            “Are you sure babe? I could change the plan, but everyone is already planning on meeting us there.”
