Take My Air
Ashley watched Spencer, following her stare to the metallic weapon in Ian’s hand. She could practically read the girls thoughts, and had to use all of her willpower to not scream NO. It was too dangerous. Spencer could get hurt or worse. But, her mind powers seemed to be fairly weak, considering a moment later Spencer had lunged forward and grabbed for the gun, her hand securing the nozzle as she tried to twist in free from the boy’s fist. There was a collective gasp around the room as everyone froze, too stunned to react.
Then there was a loud bang as the boy unintentionally squeezed the trigger. Spencer stumbled backwards, her eyes looking down to just below her collar bone where it felt like someone had impaled her with a red hot soldering iron. A split second later her knees gave and she fell to the ground, the unbelievable pain crippling her as she let out a strained groan. There were screams around the room, and Ian stared down at her, stunned into silence before he spun around, waving the gun erratically.
“See what she made me do! See! Now I can’t go back!” The boy was panicked, his finger quivering on the trigger as he stared around him.
Ashley was preoccupied edging her way towards Spencer, her eyes huge as she tried to keep herself from falling apart. She felt almost numb, the only thing keeping her together being the small mantra she was chanting in her head. She’s okay. She’s okay. She’s okay.
“Don’t move! Nobody fucking move!” The boy shouted at Ashley and she froze, her entire body shaking like a leaf. She needed to get to Spencer.
Nick gawked at Spencer, his face completely drained of color as a small pool of blood formed around her. He looked back at Ian, his jaw clenched so tightly you could see the tendons bulging in his temple. Ian had his back towards him, and Nick knew he had to do what Spencer could not. Slowly he lifted his chair above his head, and as the rest of the class watched in silence he brought the iron seat down hard upon the top of Ian’s skull. The boy went down immediately, and Nick kicked the gun away from his unconscious hand.
