Son meets Seattle Grace – (Chapter: 4)
I was already out of bed and digging through my drawers for clothes which I took into the bathroom with me. I quickly changed and brushed my hair and teeth. No time for a shower today, I thought to myself. Oh well, guess we’ll just have to be a little bit dirty. I came out of the bathroom and saw Spencer had changed back into her clothes (I had lent her some pajamas to sleep in the night before.)
“Bathroom’s all yours,” I told her and she nodded, heading in there to do what she needed to do to get ready for the day.
We managed to make it to the hospital just in time for rounds, and the morning turned out to be pretty uneventful. I couldn’t help my mind from wandering to a certain blond though. She looked so cute when she was trying so hard to focus on everything Cristina was saying. I could tell she was having a little trouble concentrating too though, because I caught her stealing a glance back at me during one of Cristina’s long ramblings. She blushed and quickly turned away when she saw she’d been caught, and I couldn’t help but smile at just how adorable she really is. Better watch yourself Davies, I thought to myself. You’ve only known this girl for a day and already you can’t get your mind off of her.
A few hours later I was exhausted and I needed a break from running around the hospital all day. I made my way towards the on call room, hoping to lay down a rest for awhile. As I entered the room I noticed Spencer already in there. Her eyes were closed and she was sprawled out over one of the cots. I entered as quietly as I could and sat down on the cot next to her, and as I did her eyes opened.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to wake you,” I said, knowing she was probably just as tired as I was from being up too late last night.
She sat up and shook her head. “You didn’t wake me, I was just resting my eyes.”
I smiled and got up to sit next to her on her cot. “Good, cuz I woulda felt bad if I’d woken you up, especially after keeping you out so late last night.”
“Don’t worry, I wouldn’t have been mad, and besides, I had a really great time with you. I may be tired today but it was totally worth it,” She smiled shyly and I just couldn’t help myself. I slowly reached my hand out and brushed her hair out of her eyes, letting my hand lightly caress her cheek. I heard her take in a sharp breath as her gaze met mine, and then my eyes darted to her lips. I leaned in, my hand still cupping her cheek. Just as my lips were about to make contact with hers…
“Oh shit!” She jumped back, breaking the contact between us as she glanced down and held up her vibrating pager. She looked up at me, “I’m sorry, I have to go.”
I nodded, understanding as she leapt off the bed and ran out the door. I sighed as I lay down and rested my head on the pillow. So much for getting some sleep, I thought to myself knowing now I wouldn’t be able to fall asleep for anything.
