Reflections In The Rearview – (Chapter: Chapter 2)
“Come on Ash if you don’t speed it up we’re gonna be late for school again.”
“Hold your horses Sparky weren’t you the one who was just telling me yesterday that I needed to cool it on the gas?”
“By ‘cool it’ I didn’t mean cause all the cars behind us to honk and flip us off as they drove past us in an angry frenzy. I mean for god’s sake you’re going 20 in a 45 .. isn’t it like illegal to go super slow?”
“Now now Carlin would I ever do anything illegal especially with you by my side? I mean I could never put you in harms way.” Ashley grinned staring at her blonde companion.
“Seriously one more tardy and you wont be the only one receiving detention. I can’t be late Ash, seriously … my Mom will kill me! Please please please hurry up! I mean maybe atleast go the speedlimit? Pretty please!?” The blonde cajoled.
“Aww afraid that detention might screw up your pretty one page blank permanent record? Hmm?”
“HEY I’ve gotten in trouble before!”
“Oh trust me I know” the older girl replied earnestly, “Infact that time you took the teacher’s pen and then profusely apologized in the middle of our science lesson last year was absolutely criminal of you.”
“I can be bad.”
“Mhmmm” Ashley nodded in agreement.
“I can!” Spencer was getting agitated with the girl and Ashley knew it.
“I’ll believe it when I see it”
Spencer huffed out of frustration. It was always an uphill battle with Ashley. The girl loved to punch Spencer’s buttons and the young blonde so easily fell into her trap it was only too predictable.
The taller girl looked out the window and watched as the buildings passed by, down the road a ways a billboard caught her interest.
“Turn right!” she yelled. The car screeched and Ashley maneuvered the vehicle around the corner nearly taking out a tiny asian woman and her pomeranian.
“Jesus Christ Spence! What happened?”
“Shit!” Spencer yelled clutching her elbow. “What was that for?” She yelled.
“What was that for?” Ashley sat bewildered, “you were the one who told me to turn!” she exclaimed.
“It wasn’t like a life or death situation Ash.”
