Preciosa – (Chapter: Excuse Me Mr. C)

“This is such a great idea. I really wanted to get to know you more on a one-on-one basis. I guess it might just be the social worker in me who wants to know all the ins and outs of people. I can also tell my daughter is very fond of you.” He said smiling.

“I’m quite fond of her myself.” Ashley said quietly.

“You seem a bit nervous. I promise I don’t bite. You can talk to me about anything so don’t be afraid to open up.”

Ashley looked up at Arthur and saw the pure sincerity that was coming from his eyes. She felt all her fears start to melt away and built up the courage to finally speak.

“Arthur…I asked you here so that I could talk to you about something very important.”

“I’m all ears.” Arthur said with a smile.

“Well see…Spencer and I haven’t been together for a very long time. But I wanted you to know that I really really do care for your daughter.” Arthur nodded and gave Ashley a reassuring smile for her to continue.

“This is kind of hard to just come right out and ask but…”

    “Arthur!”

‘Oh god! This can’t be happening!’ Ashley thought as she saw Spencer’s mother waving from another area of the restaurant. She saw the expression on the blonde’s face as she realized who was sitting with her husband. She watched as the blonde made her way over to the table. Paula placed a kiss on her husband’s cheek. The blonde then glared at the brunette with a look of pure anger. Ashley gave her an equally angry glare in return.

“Honey…I had no idea you were having lunch here. What a coincidence!” Arthur said oblivious to the looks that were being exchanged by the brunette and his wife.

“Yes quite a coincidence. So…I didn’t know you were having lunch with her today.” The blonde said never taking her eyes off the brunette. “Is Spencer not joining you?”

“Actually Ashley wanted just the two of us to have lunch. You can join us if you would like. You don’t mind do you, Ashley?” Arthur asked the brunette.

Ashley broke the stare and realized what Arthur was asking. “I…”

“Of course she doesn’t mind. Let me just grab my purse.” The blonde headed back over to her table quickly speaking to the others at the table gesturing towards their table.

‘Dammit!’ Ashley thought as she watched the blonde head back over and take a seat at their table.

“So…what were you two talking about?”

“Ashley was about to ask me something.” Arthur said. Spencer’s mother and father both looked at the brunette. Paula still had an angry expression while Arthur had a light and curious expression.

Ashley felt her all her confidence just fade away. “Oh I was just going to ask if…if you two would be interested in going to my cabin this weekend?” Ashley quickly asked.

“That’s really sweet of you to ask. Well…Paula, what do you think?” Arthur asked his wife.

Paula narrowed her eyes at the brunette feeling that this was not the question the brunette was originally planning on asking. She turned to her husband and smiled. “That would be wonderful…”

“Yes…wonderful…” Ashley muttered as she put on as happy a smile as she could manage. She raised her glass quickly to take a long drink. ‘FUCK!’
