Chapter Twenty-Nine

‘Oh my god I did not just have lunch with Spencer’s mother!’ Ashley shuddered as she sat in her car. She had spent the rest of the meal listening to the blonde go on and on about god knows what. Paula had completely ignored Ashley’s existence the rest of the time and even when Arthur tried to bring the brunette into the conversation she was quickly cut off by the blonde.

Ashley looked down at her cell phone and saw that she had one missed call. She checked it and saw that Spencer had called her and left her a voicemail. She listened to her girlfriend’s voice asking where she was and if everything was ok. She smiled at how much she really did love Spencer.

She found Spencer’s number and hit send.

“Hey sweetie.” Spencer said answering the phone.

“Hey there. I saw that you had called.”

“Yeah I had stopped by your office to see if you wanted to do lunch but you weren’t there. Is everything ok?”

“Sure is.”

“So where did you go?”

“Actually you won’t believe me when I tell you this…but…I was having lunch with your parents.” Ashley said laughing.

“What!?!” Spencer cried in disbelief.

“I took your dad out for lunch and your mom showed up too. It was one awkward meal I can tell you that much.”

“Why did you take my dad out for lunch?"

“Well I figured that since he was married to such a horrible woman that he would love a nice meal where she wasn’t around….course you see how well that plan worked out.”

Spencer still couldn’t believe that Ashley had lunch with her parents. ‘What is she up to?’ Spencer couldn’t help but wonder.

“Spence? You still there?” Ashley asked concerned.

“Wha…Oh yeah…just still trying to process this.”

“You aren’t upset that I had lunch with your parents are you?” Ashley asked worried.

“God no…so…umm…what exactly did you guys talk about?”

“Well you’re dad and I were about to have a great conversation when your mother appeared. I literally thought it was the coming of the apocalypse when I saw her.”
