    Past Perfect – (Chapter: 2)

I couldn’t believe that he was here. My life always seemed to become ironic after a short amount of normalcy. And this was one of the ironic moments. Aiden had no idea that the baby in my arms was, in fact, his. I didn’t know if this was considered a good thing or a bad thing. Everything inside me told me that it was a bad thing.

“Ashley Davies. Look at you, you look the same as the last time I saw you.”

I put on a faux smile, “Yeah, Aiden, you too.”

He continued to smile at me and then he looked to my right, which was where Spencer was standing, “And…Spencer? You two are together?”

“Hi Aiden. And…uh…yeah, we’re married.” Spencer hesitantly spoke.

“Looks like you have a baby too.” Aiden looked down at little Jesslyn who was in my arms.

I stared down at my little daughter, “Yeah, she’s only a couple weeks old.”

“She’s cute. Who’s the donor, cuz she looks a lot like the both of you.”

I looked over at Spencer and our eyes connected in complete shock. I slowly handed the baby to Spencer, “A…uh…a family friend.”

Just as I spoke a woman came up behind Aiden, “Hey babe, sorry it took us so long. Eric had Cheerio’s all over the back seat.”

I noticed the little boy holding onto her hand. He looked just like Aiden. He also didn’t look any older than about three, “You seem to be doing good for yourself in the family department as well.”

“Ah…yeah. Ash, this is my wife Ciara. And this,” he picked up his little son, “is my son Eric. Ciara, this is Ashley and her wife Spencer.”

I stuck out my hand, “It’s nice to meet you.”

She gave off a sweet smile, “It’s nice to meet you too. I’ve never met a celebrity before.”

“Trust me, we’re not all we’re cracked up to be.”

Suddenly Madison came running up to Spencer and I. She was frantic, “Guys, you have to get out of here! There’s a crowd gathering outside and when I say ‘crowd’ I actually mean ‘mob’.”

    Spencer’s brow furrowed, “What?!”
