One Side Love? – (Chapter: All I Want)
“Alright.” The dark-haired man scooted to the edge of his seat and leaned forward. “Her family keeps bugging her about it.”
“…And?”
“And she wants to please them,” Aiden said as if it were the most well-known fact. “She’s been in a rocky spot with her parents since she moved to the city and became a photographer. Now to get on their good side, she does whatever her parents want.”
“So they told her to get married?” Spencer questioned sceptically. “I don’t believe that.”
“In less or more words,” Aiden said. “Her mom keeps pestering her about a son-in-law and more grandchildren. Then her dad goes and gives her some long-time, ancient, Davies family engagement ring and said, ‘This is for your son, my grandson, whom I hope will be a proud son-in-law.’ And guess what? One month later, Ashley’s engaged. Fancy that.” He scratched his chin as an afterthought, and stared at his lovesick friend for a response. He only received a blank look in return.
Aiden clarified, “That means she doesn’t love the jerk.”
“How do you know? Maybe she really does.” Spencer hoped that she was wrong and Aiden was right. But it didn’t seem like Ashley would do such a thing like getting married when she wasn‘t in love, even though she is known for doing things for others rather than herself.
“Feh.” Aiden stood up and paced the living room. He looked towards his open bedroom door and caught saw Glen abruptly put his head down and pretend he was reading. Aiden smirked as two blue eyes peered back up at him shyly. Aiden’s mind chuckled at the ‘I’ve-been-caught-listening-in’ face his lover was now wearing.
Aiden’s thoughts wandered to the time when he and Glen met Madison for the first time. They were minding their own business in their studio, and in she popped. She had caught them in a precarious position, which was even more so since they were at work. She didn’t leave right away, too dumbstruck to move. Aiden’s bad temper made him shout obscenities at her. She evilly responded with, “They shouldn’t let queers a model for sport and fashion magazine.” Aiden nor Glen had ever spoken to her again.
Aiden retold this story to Spencer, fabricating some details to make Madison seem more of a ‘bitch-whorebag-slut,’ as he so gently put it.
