One Side Love? – (Chapter: All I Want)
Ashley had wanted to avoid Spencer as much as possible. So much in fact, she chose to move out and into her fiancé’s apartment. This didn’t go over too well with her roommate.
“How can you!” Spencer shouted. “This is so stupid. Why would you move in with him when–”
“You said it yourself. Why marry someone if you don’t know what they’re like all the time?” Ashley pointed out. “It’s just a good idea.”
“For you!” Spencer wailed. She tugged at her hair in frustration.
“I don’t know what’s wrong with you,” Ashley said with malice. “You’re acting strange, saying weird things. It’s almost as if you’re jealous.”
“Of what!” Spencer spat.
“Me getting married.”
“That’s just–uh!” The young blonde flipped off her so-called friend standing next to her boxes of stuff. She scowled and angrily asked, “What’s the real reason you’re leaving?”
“To be with him!” Ashley shouted louder than necessary.
“Bullshit.”
“Fine, you caught me!” Ashley stomped over to Spencer, getting right in her face. “The real reason is because I want to get away from you! You’re driving me up the wall! And, to top it off, you force yourself–”
“Force myself!” Spencer laughed. “You were the one who kissed me.”
“I was drunk!”
“Obviously not enough if you can even remember it!”
Ashley shuffled her feet. “You,” she said quietly, “will never have me.” She turned on her heel and stomped toward the door.
“You’re just afraid you’re falling for me!” Spencer yelled accusingly. She feared that her words weren’t even half true.
Ashley stopped in her tracks. Without turning, she retorted, “Your ego burns. But get this through your fucking head: I am going to be married in four months. I have no intention of leaving him for you.”
With the ach in Spencer’s already aching heart. She softly asked, “Then why’d you kiss me?”
Ashley placed a hand on the doorframe and turned her head slightly to see Spencer out of the corner of one eye. “I don’t know,” she whispered and finally retreated out of the room.
“So much for everything,” Spencer murmured to herself.

Ashley moved out as quickly as she had moved in. After a week passed, Spencer became aware of how alone she was in the world. Depression started settling in again and she ran to the only person she knew would help.
