Spencer took the paper between both of her thumbs and index fingers. She extended it to Paula’s face and tore it slowly letting the pieces fall into the older woman’s lap. “Come out with a prescription that will get you out of my life. THEN I’ll be cured.” Spencer rose and walked down the hall that Aiden and Madison went down so that she could catch up with them.
After another hour or so, everyone was in the lobby. Spencer, Avery, Amanda, big Amanda, Madison, Aiden, and Arthur was on his way, all there to support Ashley and Spencer.
Ben came into the waiting room and knelt down to Spencer’s level. “Ashley is in stable condition, but she is still blacked out. We are having trouble deciding to call it a coma or her to just be passed out. If you want you can go see her, but don’t expect much of a response.” Ben said. Spencer thought it over. It was pathetic that the only time she could see Ashley was when she was in the hospital and unconscious, but it was better than nothing.
Spencer took the long walk to the room, the very long walk. It felt like it was five miles at the least. In actuality, it was only one floor up. Upon reaching the room, Spencer looked in through the glass. She hated how Ashley looked like some kind of showroom piece in a glass box. She could hear the heart monitor through the glass meaning that it wasn’t sound proof.
“Okay, I’m right here if you need me alright?” Ben asked.
Spencer nodded her head and slowly walked into the room, her back was to the window and she kept it that way. She sat in the chair next to Ashley’s bed and watched the lifeless body. She was covered in cuts and bruises and she had a cast on her left arm. Spencer gently touched Ashley’s right hand as her tears began to fall. “I’m sorry Ashley. I’m so sorry! I should have never gotten upset with you; I should have left with you. This would have never happened if I had gone. I’m so so sorry.” Spencer let her tears fall rapidly as she waited for Ashley to grasp her hand. But there was no grasping. Ashley’s hand lay still and lifeless.
