I was at the quad having lunch with Kelly and she was yammering on and on about a stupid party that she wanted ‘us’ to go to.  I was getting tired of partying 24/7 with Kelly.  What was happening to me? Why was I so unhappy?  Kyla sat with us, but she was listening to her iPod.  I looked around the squad and saw no sign of Spencer. 

I hadn’t seen her since history class when she was doing her oral presentation.  I picked up my things and went to look for her.  Kelly followed me.  “Ashley, where the hell are you going?” Kelly asked coldly.  I don’t know why I used to like her.  “You can’t leave me for that… that…”  She wasn’t going to go there with Spencer, was she?

“That what?” I challenged.  I shot Kelly daggers.  I didn’t understand why some people were so mean to Spencer.  She had a good heart and always put others before herself.  How many seventeen year olds are about to do that?  For that matter how many adults were so selfless?  “Don’t you dare trash Spencer to me.  If you have a problem, we got a problem, okay?”  Kelly didn’t look too pleased with my speech.  She never liked Spencer, but Spencer never liked anyone I dated either.

“We do have a problem,” said Kelly.  Here comes Kelly with her hissy fit.  “You care about that Spencer girl forgiving you for whatever the hell you did more than me.  There are plenty of dorks you could copy off of.”  What was she talking about?

“You don’t get it,” I stated coldly.  “She was the only who believed in me and was there for me.  Are you threatened by her or something?”  Kelly rolled her brown eyes.

“I’m not threatened by a socially awkward girl,” growled Kelly.  I didn’t believe Kelly’s statement though.  She didn’t fool me, at least not anymore.  “It’s obvious that you like her, Ashley so just admit it.  There are many girls who would die to be with me.”  I didn’t like Spencer that way.  Did I?  Many girls who would die to be with her… could she be any more vain?

“I don’t like her that way,” I responded.  I put Spencer through so much crap throughout the last two years.  I needed to make things right with her.  She was the only real thing in my life.  I wasn’t able to say all that to Kelly though.
