    Your heart is the river that flows from your chest through every organ. Your brain is the dam, and I am the fish, who can’t reach the core.

    “How can they be? Everything is just so messed up… How could it ever get better?” She was desperate for some kind of words she could cling to, something to abate this bleak feeling of hopelessness that resided within her.

    “Things will get better, I promise.” It was a bold promise to make, but the girl fully believed her words. She was going to make things better for Spencer, if it was the last thing she ever did. “Why don’t we go inside and make some hot chocolate for starters?”

    Spencer smiled through her tears at the suggestion, her face burying deeper into the girls shoulder. She hadn’t had someone offer her hot chocolate as a comfort food since she was ten, and she found the gesture immensely consoling. “Yeah…Okay.”

     


    They had spent the next couple hours just talking. Talking for so long that eventually their words ran together, and they slipped into sleep. Their topics covered just about everything, ranging from their feelings on Sarah to their feelings about them. It had felt so good to be opening up to someone about everything, and the air this morning seemed to be lighter than usual. Although, she still harbored a fear that once Spencer awoke, she’d regret her decision to share her thoughts and close the brunette out completely. They had made so much progress the night before, and she dreaded backtracking.

    “Hey.” The soft and sleep heavy voice caught Ashley’s attention, and she jerked her head to the side to stare into those wonderfully blue eyes.

    “Your up.” She commented with a little smile, her head relaxing backwards into the seat. So far, Spencer didn’t seem to be too rueful, and she was pleased.

    “Mmhm…” The blonde agreed, sitting up slightly as she ran a hand through her hair. Her mind was still stuck in that peaceful sobriety of sleep, and her thoughts were surprisingly clear. She liked being her with Ashley. She liked having that face be the first thing she saw. Spencer hadn’t woken up happily in quite some time, she’d almost forgotten how comfortable mornings could be.

    “Are you okay… I mean with everything that happened last night?” She couldn’t help but ask, and Spencer found that the worried look that glinted in her eyes was actually quite endearing. The brunette was most definitely a worrier.

    2. It feels like I have a thousand butterflies fluttering in my stomach…it feels effing fantastic…that’s what this story did too me! This story is definitely one of my favorites… I’m soooooo looking forward to the next update…please don’t make me wait long! :)

    4. i love this story so much and im glad that spence is realizing her obvious feelings for ash. and even tho i agree that she has no loyalties to sarah, she does need some time. it just wouldnt be right to jump into a relationship so quickly..it would be all rebound-y. i really love how you portray spencers feeligns and hesitations because they are so realistic and real to life
