Kidnap My Heart – (Chapter: 7: Labor Day Weekend)

"Girls, wake up!" My mother is telling us outside our tent. The sun is barely up and the birds aren’t even chirping yet so I know it’s way too early. I turn to my side and see Ashley with her mouth slightly open. "Sunrise hike!" My mother peeks into our tent, "Spencer, Kyla, Ashley! Get dressed please!" I hear her walk off to my dad. Kyla’s slowly waking up, her hair disheveled and Ashley, well…she’s still asleep. What I’ve learned is that she’s the type of person to sleep in and is hard to wake up.
"Sunrise hike?" Kyla yawns as she asks me.
"I totally forgot about that." I lie. If I told them about the sunrise hike, I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t want to come considering it’s early. Kyla leans over her sister to wake her up, "Ash, get up." Still asleep. "ASHLEY!" Kyla’s shakes her now. Dead asleep. Jesus this girl can sleep through a possible earthquake but she looks so cute asleep. "Ash…Spencer’s naked." Kyla says without emotion. Soon enough, she woke up and looks at me. I guess that’s the trick.
"Spencer is not naked." Ashley sounds disappointed. "Why is everyone awake?"
"Sunrise hike." Kyla answered gathering her clothes.
"Twenty minutes guys! C’mon!" My dad yells outside our tent.
"Uh what?" Ashley looks confused and unwilling. "Dark means sleepy time."
"It’s not that bad." Another lie.

Three and half hours later, we arrive back at our campsite. It wasn’t as bad as you think. Kyla did pretty well; she kept taking pictures of the scenery with her Nikon camera. Can you say Americas Next Top Model status? As for Ashley, that was a different story. Knowing her, I knew all she packed her short shorts and tanks and no hiking shoes so she had to borrow the extra we had in the car. Honestly, I tried hard not to laugh as she struggled up the smallest hills. She definitely did not look like she was enjoying it and I have to give her credit for sticking it out. There were a few moments when we would look at each other and mouth, "I love you". We got to the top and the view was breathtaking. I looked over at Ashley who was in conversation with Kyla and I smiled at the fact Ashley finally said I love you. Well technically, she had trouble coming up with the words but yeah. She’s my first love and I couldn’t be happier.

I’d tell you the rest of what happened during the weekend but it’s not that interesting…because I still haven’t told my parents about Ashley and I. I’m guessing you all think I’m scared. Well damn right you are! I mean, my mom can be so…judgmental and I know Ashley can handle that but I don’t know if I can.
