"Ich Liebe Dich" – (Chapter: Emergency Response)

Philip said, ‘DON’T….FORGET….THIS.’ With that being said, Emily downed her face in guilt and shame. Nobody said a word for 2 hours; John paced, Philip stood against the walls, and Emily crouched on the wall across from Philip. To try and ease her conscience, Emily told them what happened and how.

Emily continued, ‘And then there was a fire everywhere. Franzi was lying under the rack. I wanted to get her out of there, but I…’ She went back to the start of it all and said, ‘Armin kicked us out of the Bluebird. And then we went to The Fasan because we wanted to go on partying.’

John said, ‘It was already closed, Emily.’

Emily said, ‘The door was open.’ John turned around trying to figure out why his own sister committed "Breaking and Entering" as she continued, ‘We just wanted to party. Franzi was in such a bad mood because of Paula. And we really had a crappy day. Then we ate something, drank wine, and made plans for New York.’

    Disappointed, John asked, ‘And then?’

Emily said, ‘Then Franzi went into the kitchen. She wanted to get the stuff.’ John held his anger in but it could be seen on his face while Philip was stuck in the abyss. Emily continued, ‘Then there was suddenly a huge bang. Now Franzi is dead.’ Suddenly all was silent.

John kept a constant vigil over Paula. Nobody could move him away from her. The news playing said that two women were rescued from The Fasan with no report as to their conditions or their identities.

The next day, still in the hospital, Paula’s hand spurted with John holding it. When John felt Paula’s hand move, he got his head up from the bed and stood over Paula.

    Gently, John said, ‘Paula?’

Muttering, Paula asked, ‘Fr..Franzi?’ She was still asleep and couldn’t see John’s face. She could only feel one hand holding hers and another on her forehead.

John said, ‘Paula? Paula. It’s me, John. I’m right here, Paula.’

Still out of whack with her surroundings, Paula asked, ‘Who’s there?’

Moving his face closer to Paula, John said, ‘It’s me, Paula. It’s John.’

When Paula heard John’s voice, she opened her eyes a little bit and said, ‘John?’
