I Promise… – (Chapter: Who In The World Is Chauncey?)

"Yeah?" She breathed, clutching my hand and closing her eyes as the plane took off.

"I hope they’re careful with my guitar."

    "Uh huh.."

"I mean, I’d hate for you dad to buy me something that great and it get wrecked by careless airport bagger-uppers."

    "Sure."

    "Are you even listening?"

    "Of course I am."

    "Then what did I say?"

"Something about sharing and stars and being mad at guys or something."

"Where did you get any of that out of what I was saying?"

    "I don’t know… Sorry, Ashley.. I guess I’m just nervous."

"I get it.." I said, putting my arm rest up so she could lean into me a little more comfortabley.

"I love you…" She said in a low whisper.

"I love you, too…. Why does it sound like you’re saying good bye?"

    "What if the plane crashes!?"

    "It won’t."

"How do you know?! Haven’t you ever seen Final Destination?!"

"Yes, and that has nothing to do with whats going on right now, okay? You didn’t dream of a plane crash while we were on the plae already. You’re just assuming to worst. The other day you thought you family had either all died or left and taken all the money and valuables."

"I was drunk! And how do you know I haven’t dreamt of a crash while on the plane in the 30 minutes we’ve been on board?"

"Because you haven’t bee to sleep? I won’t let anything happen to you, so stop worrying." I said to her. She tried to calm down, but every time the stewardest would come by she would jump and get a funny look from the woman offering us food and drinks. "Spence, just try and calm down."

"I am trying, Ashley!" She said, messing with her bracelet. I kissed the top of her head and inhaled the scent of her hair.

"You used a different shampoo before we left." I noted.

"You’re a freak. How do you notice that?"

"Well when the scent goes from apples and mangos to oranges and coconuts, it’s not hard to miss considering I always smell your hair." She smiled at me and settled her head back onto my chest. Soon I felt her breathing even out and I knew she was asleep.
