“Hey,” I greeted her.
“Good morning.”
“So we’re meeting at 8?”
“Yeah,” she replied. To escape the awkwardness of the situation, I decided to take a shower. It must have been quicker than Spencer expected because when I got out, she was speaking quietly on the phone although I could still hear her.
“I know… I don’t know what to say or how to act, and I don’t want to mess things up anymore than I already have… yeah, true… alright, thanks Allie, I’ll talk to you later… okay, bye hun.” Obviously that was about me and to avoid a potentially uncomfortable situation, I stayed in the bathroom for another minute or two so it wouldn’t seem as though I’d heard her conversation. I flashed a small, brief smile in her direction upon entering the room, which she returned. Using the towel as a cover-up, I changed into my clothes and continued my usual morning routine.
“Um… I just think you should know… I, um, I told my mom everything that happened,” she told me.
“That’s cool, I don’t mind,” I replied nonchalantly as I applied a bit more mascara. I didn’t really care, considering that Spencer and I were on virtually equal footing when it came to wrongdoings; in my opinion, she was a tad bit more wrong than I was. I finished with my routine by 7:55 and threw on a pair of shoes.
“We should go,” she said. I nodded and followed her out the door as we headed towards the hotel restaurant. She looked even more jumpy than she had been in the elevator and I don’t think my presence had any effect on that; it was almost painful to watch.
“Are you nervous?” I asked once we’d exited the elevator.
“Um…”
“I mean about your mom,” I clarified, thinking she probably thought I was talking about my presence.
“Oh… yeah. I am.”
“Don’t be. It’ll be alright,” I said, trying to reassure her as I rubbed her back a little. I felt her almost flinch under my sudden touch, but she eased into it and smiled at me. I felt my heart melt; I determined I had no backbone when it came to her.
“Thanks for being here.”
“Don’t mention it.” Upon entering the restaurant, I spotted her mother and Dr. Ben seated at a table. They didn’t notice us until we were practically next to them and both looked shocked I was there.

I personally think that Ashley forgave Spencer to easily…but I think I know why. Could it be that Ashley’s in a hurry to get Spencer back to the hotel room so they can have table top clearing sex and expel their pent up sexual energy? I mean, not that I’m pushing for that to happen next chapter. I for one would be completely happy if Spencer and Ashley went back to the hotel room and played Scrabble (hmm, if I continue to tell myself this I just might start to believe it). Go ahead girls, ride that bed off into the sunset! Please, someone pray that I’ll get my hormones under control in this millennium. Respect to Paula for being the bigger person and acknowledging that the way she treated Ashley was wrong. Your chapters still rock, Kozmic. Please post soon!
