Give Up Forever To Touch You – (Chapter: 3)

Aiden thought hard for a moment as they turned the corner making their way to the front of the store. “In a diner once, a blind woman turned to me all of the sudden and asked me to pass her the mustard.”

“But she was blind”. Ok blind people can’t see Aiden, stop being an idiot.

“Ah, but she knew I was there.”

Ashley thought over what her companion had just said, “That doctor in the operating room, she looked right at me”

“She didn’t see you Ashley. She can’t see you, no one can see you unless you want them to”

“And if I want her to?”

“Why do you want her to?”

    “To help her”

“Open it! Open it now!” The duo turned looked towards the cash register where a man stood pointing a gun at the cashier. He shouted anxiously, “Everybody down!” Customer’s dropped their purchases, slushees creating red icy puddles on the ground as they collapsed on their stomachs. A few people remained standing in shock, “GET DOWN!”

The few stragglers quickly realized the seriousness of their situation and ducked to the floor.

The cashier was a black man in his mid-sixties, his hair was graying and his sweat stained blue polo shirt clung to his overweight belly. His breathing was erratic, his chest heaving with each passing second.

“Do it!” Shouted the thief, he jabbed the gun at the cashier’s chest. “Come on just do it!”

The cashier wiped the sweat from his brow, “Ok” The elderly man began to open the register, pulling out stacks of money.

Oh shit just give him the money just give him the money. Ashley heard one customer thinking to himself as she walked closer to the counter.

Where’s Lilly? She went to the restroom god I hope she takes a long time in there again. Thought a man in his mid-twenties who was lying on the ground clutching a bag of beef jerky for dear life.

I should of gone to Ralphs. One woman thought to herself.

“Do it” the attacker yelled again.

    “Relax I’m doing it ok?”

Ashley approached the cashier from behind. She could see his fingers trembling as he pawed at the money in his drawer, bills floated to the ground as they slipped out of his fingers. Aiden made his way over to the young man with the gun.

I never saw the grand canyon I might never see my grand-kids again. The cashier thought to himself. Ashley placed her hands on the cashiers shoulders. "Shhh" she whispered. His trembling stopped.

What am I doing? The burgler thought to himself. Aiden placed his hands on this shoulders. Just be cool be cool.

As if the cashier had read his thoughts he handed the cash to the thief and looked at him nervously, “Be cool man aight? Be cool”

The young man looked back and forth between the cashier and the bag of money. He snatched the bag and raced out of the liquor store.

    “Holy shit” the cashier whispered.

Aiden looked at Ashley who still was clinging to the cashier’s shoulders. He stood there grinning as if he had just proved a point, “They don’t need to see us”
