From A Whisper To A Scream – (Chapter: one)

“yeah…” she said then her door opened and Lauren came in

    “so…you didn’t leave?”

    “nope…I didn’t leave…” Spencer replied

“what made you turn around? Did you loose your plane ticket?” Lauren asked and Spencer sat up laughing a little with her roommate

“no…the ticket’s still in my purse…I just…I passed security, then I stood there thinking to myself ‘this is it…after I walk through those doors I can start my life over…’ but I guess I’m not ready to do that yet…” Spencer explained

    “it’s Ashley…isn’t it…” Lauren said

“no…it’s not Ashley…” Spencer said “…I do miss her though…”

“does she know you didn’t leave?”

    “probably…I bet Aiden told her…”

“he probably did…” Lauren said and both of the girl laughed “…did you want to keep it from her?” Lauren asked

“no…I mean I still talk to her, now it’s always about work mostly…I just…I really wish she wasn’t married…”

“ah the wife’s still around?” Lauren asked

“yeah…” Spencer said then there was a knock on the door again and Aiden popped his head through

“hey…sorry but uh spence…someone’s at the door for you…” he said then Spencer got up and walked down the stairs to find Ashley standing at the front door

“hey…” Spencer said happy to see Ashley

“hey” Ashley  replied weakly “you almost left today…” she said pointing out the obvious fact

“yeah…I almost left today…” Spencer said, then Ashley smiled at her, then she grinned and turned around to leave until Spencer spoke

“I cant…” Spencer started getting Ashley’s attention “I cant remember our last kiss…all I could think about is I’m going to leave today…and I cant remember our last kiss…which is pathetic, but the last time we were together and happy. I want to be able to remember that…and I cant Ashley…I cant remember” Spencer said, not sad…just observant of the fact she had just pointed out

“I’m glad you didn’t leave today…” Ashley said simply, then she turned around to leave as Spencer turned around to walk up stairs until Ashley stopped and spoke “it was a Thursday morning…you were wearing that ratty little Dartmouth t-shirt you look so good in. the one with the hole in the back of the neck…you just washed our hair, and you smelled like some kind of flower…I was running late for work and you said you were gonna see me later, then you leaned to me, you put your hand lightly on my face…and you kissed me, soft…it was quick, kind of like a habit…you know like we’d do it everyday for the rest of our lives…then you went back to reading the newspaper and I went to work…that was the last time we kissed” Ashley said then she turned to leave
